When Buccaneers tight end Jerramy Stevens was activated this week following the completion of his two-game suspension, the Bucs cut tight end Ben Troupe to make room for Stevens on the 53-man roster.
But Troupe wasn’t out of work for long.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the Raiders signed Troupe today, giving JaMarcus Russell another target.
Troupe is a 6-foot-4, 260-pounder who is a good athlete and showed a great deal of promise in college at Florida, but he hasn’t lived up to that promise in the NFL. With the Titans last year, Troupe caught just five passes for 47 yards. He played in both of the Buccaneers’ games this season but didn’t catch a pass.

Give Russell T.O. and Reggie Wayne and he still has a sub-1oo passer rating, guaranteed. Somehow I’m doubting that Ben Troupe is going to be the difference-maker there.

Wow, they finally got that last piece of the puzzle they needed to get them to the SB. Congrats Raider fans!
He was a shitty TE for us when he was here. A shitty TE all around… but even so he is better than Jerramy Stevens. At least Troupe seemed to exhibit some signs of decency.

My wife went to high school with Ben, but I am finding it hard to like him now that he is a Raider. All joking asside, the raiders got a very athletic TE that can catch. Good signing.

Everybody knows the Raiders won’t even sniff the playoffs this year, but even the most myopic hill-jack Titan fan had to notice the difference between their quarterback and Oakland’s during their preseason contest. Young looked like he was playing with his helmet on backwards, while Russell showed the poise that Young should have going into his third year. Tennessee has a nice defense, but Young can’t handle the mental part of the game, and stiffs like Collins and LenWhale White won’t get them where they need to go.

No problem if you haven’t, I wouldn’t watch if I were a Raiders’ fan either.
