The more we learn about Vince Young, the less he seems like a guy any NFL team would want to count on as its starting quarterback.
Adam Schefter reported today on NFL Network’s NFL GameDay Morning that during last season’s AFC Wild Card game against San Diego, Young wanted to stop playing at halftime and had to be persuaded to take the field with his teammates in the second half.
Think about that. It was the biggest game of his professional career, and Young wanted to stop playing at halftime. That’s stunning for a guy who left Texas with a reputation as a big-game player.
Ultimately, Young did play the entire game, completing 16 of 29 passes for 138 yards, with no touchdowns and an interception. The Titans lost 17-6.

Tenn has to see something in this guy to keep him around. Honorable but with the latest news we should leave the dude alone. Let him re-coup. To start let him know he will be cut this year. He can go get a fresh start elsewhere. Someone should tell his mommy to shut up as well. Let the boy be a man.

It’s a shame that he can’t get his crap together and live up to his potential.
Somewhere, Norm Chow is laughing his butt off.

If he can not take the heat in a small market like Nashville then he is done
What would have happened if he had found himself playing for the Giants or the Jets
We all take crap in at work but we suck it up and few if any make his kind of money
Hell you could booo me for the whole game as long as I got that game check
VY either has to grow up or find a job with little or no pressure
Maybe he sould learn how to say do you want frys with that

Do these guys have to bring in a note from home if they’re sick? Add McNabb to the list as well as his parents spoke out for him a couple of years ago when he was being “persecuted” for throwing the ball to the wrong team, repeatedly, in the superbowl.

This guy needs a change of scenery–I doubt the Titans are going to come up with quality receivers any time soon. And if he goes elsewhere and can’t connect with quality receivers, then it’s time VY either is converted to another position or he needs to take his money and run outta the league.
It really makes it clear to me how low-rounders/undrafteds like Tom Brady and Tony Romo end up outshining BCS (BS??) heroes like Vince Young and Matt Leinart; the forgotten/overlooked ones have a much tougher mindset and have fought much harder to even get into the league, never mind get to the top of the heap.
So in a way, I do feel bad for VY and his state of mind, but at the same time I can’t help but think he needs to just sack up and take care of his own business privately.

I agree with MJM about the change of scenery. If this is actually true, I can’t imagine a locker room that would get behind him though.

The Titans have “millions of reasons” why they want Vince to be a great QB. Especially Bud Adams since his the sole reason Vince is a Titan today. He thinks he got the prize of that draft, psst don’t wake him up and tell him it isn’t so. Vince has to become coachable first and the Titans are still waiting for that to happen. There is only so much modification that can be done at the NFL level for specific players. Good luck to all those waiting for Vince to become the next great thing in a QB.

VY is a tremendous athlete. Apparently football was fun - LOTS of fun - when he was playing against lesser athletes (in college and HS), and having great success because he was bigger, stronger, faster, and just much better than almost everyone else on the field.
But in the NFL, when everyone else is also big and fast and strong and hits hard - and never quits - football is less fun for VY. A LOT less fun. VY clearly doesn’t have the stomach (or the psyche) for the game at the NFL level. Only the outrageous money he makes there is standing between him and retirement - and probably, for not much longer. I hope he keeps enough money to live a semi-comfortable, low-stress life out of the spotlight, as it looks as if he would strongly prefer. Good luck to him.
As for the Titans … the TS rule applies. Better luck with next year’s draft, boys.

VY was Bud Adams “gift” to Houston for passing on their “savior” and the Texans instead taking Mario! Fisher/Reese didn’t have a call in that draft cause Butt Adams, once again, drove the “train wreck” of his franchise.
Fisher get’s kudo’s for being a “good” first mate on Capt. Bly’s ship wreck and trying to keep the ship afloat, while having a maniac at the helm!

Vince Young would fit right in with the Raiders mess.
The Raiders should do JaMarcus Russell a favor and swap him straight up for Vince Young. Russells a great talent that will be destroyed by Darth Davis in Oakland. Let Vince wallow in misery in Raiderland.

I’m a Titans fan, and I really want to see Vince Young do well, but how in the hell do you ask out of a playoff game at halftime, especially when your team is leading!!!

lol well said bdub85. It’s hard for me to grasp why a lot of people are defending this guy. For starters you can’t have both ways when you are famous. You can’t be loved, and then turn around and not accept the ridicule. Poor Vince, like hes the first MF to be ridiculed. If this is true, if he ACTUALLY asked out of a playoff game, its hard to even quantify how disgraceful that is. Talent is relative, he mightve been good in college, but it doesnt mean he has talent for the NFL. I saw someone actually compare him to Mcnabb on here. Really? I mean really?! Thats so dumb it doesnt even warrant a rebuttal, but I digress. The point is Vince Young is a pussy. A big one

mark0226: Dan Marino had a much lower Wonderlic score than Young. Also, out of Young, Leinart, and Cutler, Leinart had the highest Wonderlic score. Having a high score on that test (or a low one) does not equate to success (or failure) in the NFL.
