Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that the Houston Texans didn’t want to play their Week Two game against the Ravens at a neutral site because they didn’t want to leave their families in the zone of the hurricane damage while they went to another town, such as New Orleans or Atlanta, to play the game.
The Ravens, per Glazer, wanted to play the game.
Glazer also says that the Week Five game between the Colts and Texans set for Houston could be moved to Indy, with the Week Eleven game moved from Indianapolis to Houston. The decision will depend on an assessment of the damage to Reliant Stadium, which will be made on Monday.

This is spin. This isn’t about families or anything sentimental like that. It’s about losing home game revenue. Regardless, the storm is over, there’s no reason not to leave their families like they do 8 other times a year.

While they’re buying into common disaster myths (widespread looting and crime after Katrina was the exception, not the rule in these situations) I understand their reasoning behind this. Get their lives in order, help out the community, and move on.

Comments like that of B1ACKA1 to start this thread shows he has never experienced a hurricane. Living in FL, I’ve been through several of the past few years. After a natural disaster like this, people need to take care of their personal lives. The people in the Houston area have a lot of work to do to get things back to normal. The NFL got it right all the way around on this one.

This is absolutely a spin. The only reason their families were in harms way is because Goodell made the decision to move the game to Monday night. If Goodell makes the decision to move to Atlanta or New Orleans on Thursday then the players and their families get out of dodge and leave Houston on Thursday. Anyone with the financial means to move their families out of a hurricane does so. The NFL screwed this up and now they’re looking for a way to spin it.

Spin??? Ha! Let’s see how you would react if you had to choose between going to work, or letting your wife and kids deal with the damage/mess and, more importantly, the looters themselves.
Get a clue losers.

ravens fans seem to be feeling pretty screwed based on the radio and people i’ve talked to here.
like the nfl cares if they honk us off, according to them we shouldn’t even have a team here.

So, the NFL made efforts to ensure that the game could be played, and in fact the game could have been played somewhere? The Ravens wanted to play the scheduled game and the Texans didn’t? Shouldn’t that be considered a forfeit?

Come on, if their families were in any danger - they couldn’t get them out of there?
What a bunch of bullspin.

see this?
it’s misleading almost to the point where it’s a dishonest argument.
The NFL is not in the business of cleaning up after hurricanes or keeping the peace after a disaster, that would be FEMA and the national guard’s gigs.
Last time i checked the NFL was in the business of playing football games, though that might have changed after what i saw today i’m not so sure.
I am quite sickened by people who say things like this quote above, it’s a simple way to justify an unprecedented action or lack there of by the league.
That’s right, they’ve never done something this screwed up before, is anyone really surprised?
The most disgusting part of that comment is that it is really about the poster making themselves feel good about themselves, see how noble they are knowing what is important in this world?
It’s important to post on a football forum how superior you are of course!
That’s the only answer i can draw, someone who cares that deeply would be volunteering to help and would be too busy to post, unless…….
unless they only care about themselves and how good that post made them feel.
