Well, well, well.
Just as the “Days without an Arrest” meter edged back into double digits, it can be reset to double zero.
Colts defensive tackle Ed Johnson was arrested Wednesday morning for marijuana possession.
“Those charges have been filed, it is my understanding, and we are in the process right now of determining what course of action to take with respect to discipline,” G.M. Bill Polian said. ”There will be discipline, the question is what is it.”
As an initial step, coach Tony Dungy said that Johnson won’t play on Sunday at Minnesota.
Whether Johnson is docked a game check is a different issue. The arrest exposes Johnson to potential discipline under the substance-abuse policy; teams arguably don’t have the ability to impose separate penalties for the same conduct.
In fact, an argument could be made that the team has no authority to suspend with pay, either. It’s unlikely that Johnson would fight it, however. Otherwise, the team might conclude at some point in the future that his skills have eroded to the point that they have to cut him.

Can’t these guys just smoke pot after the season or better yet, after they retire? I don’t get throwing everything away for a little weed. Dope (Johnson I mean).

St. Tony don’t like nobody sparkin’ up on his team. Question is, was it a couple of fatty’s in the coat pocket like Faulk had when he was busted at the Lil’ Wayne’s show earlier this year, or 213 lbs of da chronic like old Nate Newton had in his trunk?

OK, I was reared in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. That means I grew up around a LOT of people who think smoking a “J” is as normal as having a beer.
Hence, I have known a lot of people that “carry” on a regular basis. But, I have never known a person to get busted just for carrying around some weed.
So what are these NFL players doing to get busted?
Is it just DRB (driving while black)?
Or,DWBANFLP (driving while being an NFL player)?
Or what?

Johnthe hillbilly is dead on. The number of people I know that smoke is ridiculous and not one of them has ever been arrested for possession.
What the heck are all these NFL players doing to get caught? Heck, most people I know never even leave their house with a joint. Its delivered, it stays there, when more is needed its delivered.
I just don’t get it.

The Colts couldn’t stop the run last week with Ed Johnson (giving up 183 yards and 2 TDs on the ground to the Bears). How in the world will they stop Adrian Peterson on Sunday? Peterson might break the single game rushing record this weekend.

Hey Osterhouse, If you refuse to let them search can’t they bring a dog out to the scene and if the dog gets a drug scent then they can search? someone told me that it gives them probable cause to search. I don’t know if that is true or not..

The dog has to be brought within a certain amount of time. So basically by the time the cop is done writing a ticket or whatever, the dog has to be there. So if they ask, say no unless you dont have anything to hide. More importantly put it in the glove box and lock it.

Ed Johnson was not drafted due to behavior problems at Penn State. The Colts signed him as a college free agent and he started at DT every game last year.
The Colts really never DRAFT guys that had issues in college; but they will sign a couple a year as college free agents - only if there is good reason to believe that they have straightened things out.
In Johnson’s case Joe Paterno vouched for him and he otherwise pass scrutiny.
Before this he had been a model citizen with the Colts. He will be punished and he probably will be on a short leash for now on.

Hey faulkana:
>> I’m sure that the self-righteous St. Dungy will find a
>> way to deny that this ever happened.
Like all of the other things he has denied? Where is this coming from?
When you hate someone who is a great guy and beloved figure by all who know him; you tell us more about yourself than you do the person you hate.
Hating the wrong people is a bad thing. Trying to justify that hatred by smearing them is bad too.
Maybe you should think about why you hate the wrong people?
If you say that you do not hate him; then maybe try not calling him a hypocrite and inferring that he is secretly a bad person.
Maybe you should discuss this with Florio; sometimes people with the same kinds of problems can help each other.
