The rash of injuries to big-name stars is continuing. And that’s bad news for the Saints.
Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that receiver Marques Colston will miss four-to-six weeks after suffering a torn ligament in his thumb.
Colston had surgery to reattach the ligament on Tuesday.
In his absence, receivers David Patten, Devery Henderson, and Terrance Copper will have expanded roles. Also, it might give 2007 first-rounder Robert Meacham a chance to provide a return on the team’s investment. Meacham was inactive for all of the 2007 season, and he was inactive on Sunday against the Bucs.

Well, at least a hurricane didn’t destroy their city ever or anything really bad like that.

Did Meachem even play at all last week? It’s time for the dude to seriously step it up. Luckily for the Saints though, they still have a bunch of pretty good options while Colston’s out.

Ouch…This hurts them.
You can expect Brees’ production to drop off, or better yet the entire offense until Colston returns.
All-time biggest steal of any draft in the past 20 years, no questions…And shut up Brady fans, Colston was just a few selections from being “Mr. Irrelevant.” Now he’s a perennial Pro Bowler and 100-catch a year guy

I said it before and I’ll say it again. These guys are already beat up from preseason. The preseason rosters need to go back to what they were before.

Wonder if Meachem will be active next week. Didn’t he tear it up in the preseason? He must piss off the coaches a LOT. At least now maybe we get to see if he is worth a damn.
I wouldn’t worry about the Saints production. They’ve still got two great receivers in Shockey and Bush.
And I wouldn’t take Lee Evans for Colston. I’d rather sit on him and hope I make the playoffs.
