After catching a 35-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Browns, Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens lined up at the goal line as if he was preparing to run the 100-yard dash.
Before the gun could sound, the yellow flag was flying.
The premeditated celebration resulted in a 15-yard penalty, and a chant of “asshole” from the Browns fans.
Sure, it’s cute and funny and engaging. But with the Cowboys kicking off to a potent Cleveland offense from the 15, it also was stupid.
Dallas leads, 14-7. Quarterback Tony Romo has completed his first eight passes.

Ah T.O. gets a new contract in part as a reward for not making a spectacle of himself and the first game of the season he draws a 15 yard penalty for exactly that. How long before he acts up in the locker room? Has anyone started a pool? roflol

T.O., ought to change his last name to Proctologist. After he scores a touchdown, the fans can yell asshole and he can put on a rubber glove and pull a jar of petroleum jelly out from under the goalpost pad, lube up his finger and start chasing the opposing teams mascot around the field.

We’ll stop number changes (see Kevin Smith) or not enforce them (see Devin Hester), but we’ll throw 15 yard penalties for celebrations? Give me a break.

I’m an Eagles fan, and I have no problem with T.O. Great player with unreal atheletic ability. But, how come none of the coaches said a word to him after the penalty?? It’s like they don’t want to upset him because he might get pissed off. Obviously, Cleveland’s defense is no better than JV squad in a weak high school conference, but if that happens in a tight game against a good team, one of the veterans on Dallas’ defense (maybe Greg Ellis) is gonna have to let him know what’s up.

He’s gonna act up in the locker room because he had an endzone celebration??? You are a tool. Keep the pool running, it’s going on the third year already. Keep dishing out money on a pool like that you idiot.

The screen name is a jab at Michael Vick. It’s not my nickname. Stick to the subject of football or Mr. Florio will banish you from PFT land.

Some potent Brown offense.
I think they managed to beat one team last year that had a winning record.
And if we are going to flag guys for ‘premediated celebrations’ lets just make it official that this is now the No Fun League.

I thought it was a great celebration in good taste…no props. As for being stupid because it was in the middle of the game, who cares….have fun. That is what makes the Cowboys great, they enjoy the game. As far as the high powered offense, wow! That blew my mind…the Browns probably could have beat, well….maybe the Rams with that impressive 10 point outing! Please Florio, these Cowboys are for real.

If by the letter of the rules, the “Usain” act deserved a 15-yard flag, then the rules need to be changed. Having a rule penalizing like that is insane. Let the players have some fun.

How is this in poor taste….anyone, really…anyone please explain? It did not disrupt the game, it did not make fun of anyone, it was not racist or defamatory, it did not involve a prop, and he did not belittle the opposing team in any form or fashion? Please explain.
You guys have lost touch with reality, the truth is you don’t like TO for some reason and you post your opinions based only on that fact alone. The celebration was in good taste, if you can prove me wrong please feel free to do so. Deep down you thought it was clever, but you won’t admit it because your favorite player forgot where the endzone is located and will most likely surprise himself when he ends up there; therefore, forgetting what a celebration feels like. It is a game, remember? Games are fun, right? You guys must really suck at life, I bet your friends hate you.
Life is short…like me, so make fun of it! Lighten up!
Respectively speaking, of course!

Three words: No Fun League
wth is wrong with that celebration? The NFL has truly taken the showmen out of the game. Sure you hate if the guy doesn’t play for you, but it’s ridiculous to dictate to the players on this. Let them celebrate, within reason. Ocho Cinco certainly wouldn’t have gone nuts if they just let him riverdance and putt the football with pylons and propose!
