Patriots receiver Randy Moss isn’t happy about the hit on quarterback Tom Brady, which could knock Brady out for the entire 2008 season.
“I don’t really want to get into it, but me personally, I think it was dirty,” Moss said, according to Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe. “Like I said, I didn’t really see anything; I was running down the field. When I came back in [and watched it], it looked dirty to me. I’ve never been a dirty player. I honestly don’t even know how to play dirty. I just play the game. Any time you see something like that, that looks foul, it looks dirty, it opens your eyes. So, me personally, it looked dirty.”
The Chiefs player who delivered the hit, safety Bernard Pollard, disagrees.
“The play was not intentional,” Pollard said. “People can call me a dirty player, you can call me whatever you want to call me, it’s not a dirty play. When you have 230 pounds on your back, and you’re trying to go forward, things will happen. I saw the ball was still in his hands and I tried to get to him. I tried to get up and get to him. But I couldn’t get up, so I just tried to grab him. It was not an intentional play.”
Pollard also addressed what happened after the play.
“All I heard was him scream and yell. When I heard him scream and yell, I knew something was wrong. That [stinks], because he’s a great player. He really is. He’s a top-notch guy. I’ve never really personally talked to him, but from seeing his interviews and everything else. . . . I’m sorry and that’s immediately what I said afterward. I went to my coach and let him know – ‘Coach, this was not intentional.’ Coach said ‘I know, I saw.’ My coach knows me and my teammates know me. I’ve never been a player like that, never been tagged as a player like that ever.”

Yeah, I’m a Pats fan, but Moss is wrong. No way was it dirty or intentional.
It was the same thing with Wilfork last year, and Kimo in the playoffs a couple of years ago. They weren’t dirty hits, just crap luck by defenders playing to the whistle.

Yeah, Moss didn’t want to get into it, that’s why he opened his mouth anyway. I saw the play and it definitely didn’t look intentional. It’s not like Pollard hit him late or eye-gouged him (are you listening Harrison and Wilfork?).

I didn’t see the play yet, but it seems to me like everytime somebody gets hurt by a hit below the waist, somebody is saying it was dirty.

I guess if my season just went down the toilet I’d be looking to point fingers too. What do you think the chances are that Moss is kicking himself for not signing with the Philadelphia Eagles?

I suppose it’s tough to be a dirty player when you’re absolutely terrified of any contact that doesn’t involve a meter maid.

They should ask Rodney Harrison if it was dirty, like when he took out Trent Green in 99. I don’t think this compares to it at all. It’s football. Think of when Palmer went down in 05 against the Steelers. This stuff happens.

I love how anytime a star player gets hurt its a “dirty play.” Of course if the Pats are as good as everyone thinks they are they can overcome an injury like this.

anybody who thinks that was a dirty play is a moron, he hit him before it came out, and they were just trying to get a sack, if anything it was a dirty hit by karma

Moss wasn’t a dirty player, he was a F*CKING LAZY PLAYER that even would change his routes so he didn’t have to run on the infield dirt at the Coliseum.

Typical. Some dirtbag no-name player tries to make a name for himself by cheapshotting the best QB in the league, on the best dynasty in the 21st century.
Everyone is so jealous of the dynasty. It has reached a new low.
Now there are cheap shots, and people are actually happy that Tom Brady might have torn a knee ligament. Such disgusting behavior from bitter gas station attendants.
It’s fun being a fan of a dynasty. Most of you wouldn’t know a thing about that.

Now we will see how good Belicheat really is. I think the answer is that we will see he is not as “great” as people assume he is. Unless he gets back to cheating, it will become obvious that Brady has made the coach.

Kharma is a beautiful thing. Pats fans yelled in indignation when Vince Wilforks incredible cheapshot to J.P. Losmans knee which injured him was called intentional. Wilfork was fined $10,000 and Losman was out for weeks but Pats fans said that their players had too much class to deliver cheap shots. Yest, it was Wilfords 2nd huge fine for intentionally dirty play. But the really classy Pats also
have Rodney Harrison, the most fined player in NFL history. Add to that all of the times that Coach Belichck rolled up the score when his team was already ahead by over 40 points late in the game while leaving Brady in to score more. So I guess the whining frpm Patriots nation will fall on deaf ears to those that believe the Patriots are in line for some bad mojo. If Bradys out for the year tough freaking luck. Enjoy the Matt Cassel ear and a 6-10 year !

I don’t care if it was unintentional. To me it’s roughing, regardless of whether Pollard meant it or not. What did he think he could achieve by going for Brady’s leg? You can see that he’s forcing his own momentum into him. Not uncontrolled at all. He probably didn’t intend to injure Brady. But calling the play completely fair is rubbish.

90% of the people on this site are hypocrites… last year you couldn’t find a feedback post that wasn’t along the lines of
“omg!!! the pats cheat!!!! look how wilfork plays!!! he’s so dirty!!! just like all of the pats!!!”
i’m a pats fan and i don’t think it was dirty… but i didn’t think wilfork’s hit last year was eithier
and I think todays play and last year’s play was almost IDENTICAL
