The NFL, its 32 franchises and its fans seem to have moved past Spygate, but U.S. Senator Arlen Specter continues to make noises about investigating the league.
Even though NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says he has investigated all allegations of misconduct, Specter still seems convinced that there are improprieties going on in the league and that it’s the government’s responsibility to deal with those improprieties.
“I think there will be more on the issue of irregularities with the NFL,” Specter said yesterday at the Republican National Convention, per the Boston Herald. “I published a report in June that gave my position, but there will be more aspects of this that need to be examined.”
Specter didn’t detail what those “more aspects” will consist of, but he did say he wouldn’t rule out Congressional hearings. So far none of his Senate colleagues have shown any interest in holding hearings.

What in the world does he need to do with the NFL? Considering the issues our country faces, the absolute last thing we need is a Senator poking around the NFL for activities that while against league rules, are not illegal. With wars, the economy and all of the issues that face us, this man thinks he needs to get involved in suspected videotaping in a sport? What the world is wrong with him?
The Senator has no business here, and I don’t even see how he has a legit issue to investigate. Spying or not, nothing was done that was against the law, and I can’t see how it even belongs in the Senator’s agenda. I hope he gets voted out of office quickly. The last thing we need is govt. sticking its nose into league policies that have little to do with the laws of this country.

He’s really looking at the Cheatriots only. Between video taping opponents and HGH users, this franchise can only compete when the playing field is not level.
Time to throw the bums out.

So Senator Don Quixote is still chasing windmills. Big deal. The more he cries about this issue the more the Senate tunes him out. Sad though, he is just doing what is best for Comcast….er, the Nation.

It speaks volumes when only Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa, who work the gossip section for the Boston Herald, cover your comments. This is another reason why the Republicans will be voted out of office, focus on non-issues while the country/economy is crumbling. This coming from a registered Republican.

I would think Specter could find more important issues to occupy his time. Like the economy, or “irregularities” right there in Washington DC, or any number of other problems the government is actually elected to solve. Besides, the NFL has a commissioner and doesn’t appear to need another one.

As a Steeler fan, I can honestly say that this joker is well past the overkill stage at this point. Also, if hes doing this to boost his political appeal (which he is), f-ing with the NFL is probably not the best idea. Give it a rest, windbag, and go back to doing whatever it is you do.

Ironic. Last night when NBC went to commerial break, I was flipping to the NFL network. They had a show “The top 10 worst weather games”. Back in the 70’s the Steelers soaked the playing field with an inch of water that turned to ice in an AFC playoff game vs the Raiders. John Madden was the Raider coach (not sure why he didn’t talk about this last year.) Dan Rooney was on screen laughing saying” We where trying to get as much home field advantage as we could.” The Raiders where a down field passing attack team, while the steelers where a grind it out offence. WOW. Last I checked Pittsburgh was in PA. I’m not trying to justify the whole spygate thing, but WOW. Thats the pot calling the kettle black (and gold).

Are there not more pressing issues in this country, or for that matter, the state of Pennsylvania, than what the NFL may or may not be doing when it comes to cheating?
Does Arlen Spector have gambling ties?

While I would cringe at the prospects of the US Federal government getting involved in my business, the NFL and the Patriots should have learned from Watergate that the cover up is often worse than the crime.
Given their broad investigative powers, I would emulate the Watergate model and follow the money. Figure out how an assistant golf pro from Hawaii can retain a top legal firm out of Washington DC for 6 months and all that high priced protection for what— to turn over a hand full of tapes? If a lawyer of that level charges $1500 per hour (reportedly), figure out how much he was paid for the representation of Matt Walsh and I will bet you lunch that it exceeded Matt Walsh’s annual salary.
I would also look at Matt Walsh’s 1040 return to see if he hadn’t been paid a rather large sum of money. I would then match that up with Bob Kraft’s corporate check book for any similar size disbursements. Would anyone be surprised to find a match? (not including the Patriot fans, but ask the Ram fans this same question)
I can just hear the Patriot fans now screaming that I should be looking for lost UFO’s at Area 51 and similar conspiracy theories. But this has never really passed the smell test and I am not talking about the smell of Bellicheat’s a$$hole after the Pats fans lick it clean. I know the NFL would love to have this behind them so my proposal is that the NFL suspend Bellicheat for 2 years, put asterisks next to their 3 Superbowl wins and then finally declare, its over, lets move on.

My mistake, the “article” was written by the Herald gossip rags in the Inside Track. I am glad to hear that Senator Comcast Spector from Pennsylvania continues to make one of the more important agendas for his constiuents. Be proud that your tax dollars pay this idiots salary.Gas must be back to $ 1.99 a gallon in Penn.

Jealousy will not make your team better. Anti Pats fans need to realize that.
If you hate the patriots, you probably have these things in common.
(not counting NY Giants)
1. Your QB is not dependable
2. Your owner would rather make money then win
3. Your coach doesnt come close to the game planning the Belichick does.
Now imagine watching your hometown team play with confidence every weekend.
Knowing you can win 80% or more of your football games.

Dear Arlen Spector -
PLEASE DO YOUR DAMN JOB and worry about important things - like I don’t know…maybe fixing the WORST run airport in the world (PHL)… or perhaps stop everyone from shooting each other in Philly… or stopping Pittsburgh from becoming completely disgusting…
Anything other than focusing on getting your name in the paper and on fox sports - You are a joke!
PS - please fix the airport, pretty please!

Not that it makes it OK for Harrison, but is he the only one?
