We’ve got bad news for all of you who drafted running back Ricky Williams based on the assumption that he’d be the starter in Miami.
Coach Tony Sparano suggested on Wednesday that this might not be the case.
“You’ll have to buy a ticket and see,” Sparano said regarding the identity of his starting tailback. As to Ronnie Brown, the No. 2 overall pick in 2005, “All of a sudden, I see a little more burst.”
And since I went with Ricky the league I’m in with a bunch of family members who love to see me lose, that’s just great news.

I went with Ricky in my draft last night based on the assumption that he’d get the bulk of the carries early on. He’s my 3rd RB though, so I’m not hurting too bad. Someone’s already trying trade me Jonathan Stewart for him.

you mean people didn’t draft Ricky assuming it would be a similar situation as his first year teamed up with Ronnie Brown?
He’s like MJD. Who cares if he’s the “starter”. He’ll make the most of his touches and put points on the board.

I’m a Phins fan and I should have warned everybody. The Dolphins RB’s are probably going to be a lot like Denver usually is. They will produce a lot of yards and TD’s but they will split carries and you will never know who to have and who t start. best advice is to stay way until on gets hurt/suspended.

Somebody ask Westhoff, he should know who’s starting.

“Starting” never defined workload. Julius Jones “started” in Dallas last year too……..so I don’t know how much it really matters who steps on the field first? Best case scenario was that Rick would get 50% of the carries once Brown was healthy.

FWIW, Ricky Williams is listed first on the depth chart at the Dolphins’ web site

Brown is coming off a major leg injury. I will be shocked like alot of people in the NFL if he does not have a set back.

Ricky is a cool dude and I’m glad he’s working hard & doing well, but Ronnie Brown is still the longer term option in Miami, no doubt about the smokescreen.

I think I am pretty safe. Ronnie Brown fell way down in my draft and I picked him up with a 9th round pick…sweet.
and then he’ll get injured and that will suck.

they’re both going to get a lot of work …. Ricky will probably get more of it initially … until Ronnie gets back to 100% … irregardless of who plays the first down of the game …

Florio- I wouldn’t worry about it too much. All of the various ESPN and NFL.com “experts” who visit training camps have said that Ricky Williams looked far and away like the best *player* in Dolphins camp this preseason, much less the best running back.

They’ll split time this year. That has always been the case despite what has been said or reported, and that will always be the case this year barring injury to either. This has been obvious from day one to anyone following the team

I still think he is a steal in fantasy…………if you pick him up in free agency like I did.

ShawshankReception - the online depth chart is worth nothing. They are all run by PR guys that don’t know football. No one should look to online depth charts for reliable info.

jtfillby….maybe one day..point being everyone has their priorities out of wack, Ive seen people get mad even when their teams WIN, because its not good enough, their receiver on their fantasy league team didnt have 6 catches for 125 yrds and 2 touchdowns. Just stat fa-gs if you ask me..It makes me wanna give them a wedgie and hang their ass off a pole
