There’s good news for Saints fans, and for the citizens of New Orleans. Only six days after Gustav skirted the city, the Superdome will be hosting NFL football.
As scheduled, the Buccaneers and the Saints will meet on Sunday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
“There were a number of critical issues that needed to be addressed before we could make this announcement,” Saints owner Tom Benson said. “We have been assured by Superdome officials that the stadium is ready to host our fans and our team for a sold out game this Sunday and we have been assured by our political leaders that we have their support in making this happen.
“Our number one priority was making sure that the people of our community were safe during the storm and are now able to return safely. There is a critical re-entry process that we all must follow and we must do that as efficiently as possible. We will once again showcase to a national audience that the city of New Orleans is made up of resilient people and that we are ready to stand our city back up as quickly as possible, put this storm behind us and move on with our lives.”

It happy its great to know that the levees held and nothing too serious happned to the. I have to give it up to Mr. Bobby Jindal he did a great job and I’m happy that they are going to open that game as scheduled. Cant wait to put on the black and gold and go cheer for my team. GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!! Also I tried to read as many post as I could when I was evacuating and I want to thank you guys for all the love you have giving us and the city. Thank you very much. All except for one person and I can’t remember his name, but he had to bright idea to level the city for some reason and I belive we should all go grab some bulldozers and level his home just for the hell of it……Good Luck to all of you teams this year. WHO DAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice you’re back home. Now get ready to get spanked again by the Bucs, 27-13.

I, too was releived that New Orleans was spared this time. But there’s still alot of damage to be dealt with……I wonder if many will actually be able to attend the game.

There you go Saint’s, get fired up. The dome will have fan far and noise reminiscent of the 2006 first home game monday night against the falcons. I think the Saints will come back from Indy even more focused and ready than when they left, and will start this glorious season 1-0, easily.

Count on the dome being full. Most evacuees will be back by Thursday.

Since the Saints have a better away record than home record, I’m wondering if they should have stayed in Indy until game time.

The bucs fans always have high hopes but never able to strike gold there an awful team with a decent fan base. another mediocre season for the bucks with an old D, no run game and a week wristed qb….
