CBS 4 in Denver reports that the Broncos have dealt cornerback Dominique Foxworth to the Atlanta Falcons.
In return, the Broncos will receive a seventh-round pick. If the Falcons re-sign Foxworth this year, the pick upgrades to a sixth-rounder.
Foxworth, a third-round pick in 2005, started 18 games in three seasons. He played mainly as a nickel back last year.
Foxworth was one of the players who took the January 2007 death of Darrent Williams particularly hard, and the simple reality could be that Foxworth needed to move on before he truly could move on.

Sad to hear this. Although his cover skills lacked as of late, Foxworth is a great character guy that comes along every once in a while. I’m sure it was tough for Shanny to let him go. He’s done some great things for the Denver community over his 3 years there. He should be recognized for sprear-heading the Darrent Williams Foundation, which has been a huge success getting inner-city Denver kids off the streets. He’s also a big part of the NFLPA and will be involved with that for years to come.

This is a good move for everyone involved. My guess is a change of scenery and some new teammates is exactly what Foxworth needs.

We were lucky to get a 7th rounder for him. He is HORRIBLE!

Great value… getting a 7th round pick for a 3rd round pick.

He showed a ton of promise early on. Hopefully the switch works out for him.

A seventh!?! Am I the only one who thinks he would be more valuable to the team as a 3rd, 4th, or even 5th corner? If they could not get at least a third for him, they should have kept him for depth. Of course, I guess he is UFA after the season, and they wouldn’t even get a 7th at that point…

I hope he gets what he wants in Atlanta, he will be missed in Denver and is a great role model for kids.
