Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times reports that the Ravens and quarterback Chris Simms currently are meeting regarding the possibility of Simms joining the team.
Per Wilson, no deal is imminent. But, with Kyle Boller (shoulder) and Troy Smith (tonsillitis) out indefinitely, the Ravens might need a No. 2 quarterback behind rookie Joe Flacco.
Since Simms is a vested veteran, the Ravens might merely elevate Casey Bramlet from the practice squad for Week One and then add Simms next Monday. If Simms is on the opening-day roster, his salary for the entire season will be essentially guaranteed.

Wouldn’t Kansas City or Chicago make more sense?

This would be a good move with Boller out indefinitely. If Troy can’t go week 1 I could see the Ravens giving the offense to Simms and have him hand it off to McGahee and Rice for the whole game.
Lord knows the Bengals can’t stop the run.

To bad I wish he would head a bit further north so that he can follow in his dads foot steps and we could get rid of David Car Wreak
The Giants need a strong #2 and Car is not the answer would rather have the hefty lefty then david car

If Simms is stupid enough to go to Baltimore and be #2 behind a rookie and a shoddy offensive line, he isn’t worth a pile of #2.

I wish simms all the luck in the world. He was really elevating his game before he got injured. Sorry to hear that he was cut but thats the way of the business.

All the ravens need in a third stringer is someone who can handoff to Willis McGahee. I mean let’s face it. The ONE opponent in the division who can stop the run is going to destroy them anyway. Of course I mean the Steelers but then again, with the addition of Sean Rogers, the Browns are looking a bit tougher on D. Anyway, Simms would be a good fit. He could do better than some practice squadder anyway.

Or, the Ravens might take one look at Simms and immediately send him packing, opting instead to choose between luminaries Joey Harrington and Todd Bouman.
