A league source tells us that the Detroit Lions cut veteran running back Tatum Bell in order to make room for veteran running back Rudi Johnson.
It’s possible that the Texans will sniff around Bell. As we hear it, the Texans were very interested in Johnson, who inked with the Lions before getting a chance to check out Houston.
Bell was traded to the Lions in 2007 as part of the deal that sent cornerback Dre’ Bly to Denver.

Texans GM Rick Smith and Head Coach Gary Kubiak know Tatum Bell very well since they were all in Denver during Bell’s first two seasons in the league. That could work for or against Bell. We’ll soon find out since the Texans are down a body in the RB/FB corps after Chris Brown’s trip to the IR.
Second hand RBs R Us….

Why would they do this? This is a team supposedly committed to a power running offense, yet Kevin Smith and Rudi Johnson would be the only two tailbacks on the roster if they cut Bell loose.
Most teams in the league keep 3-4 and sometimes 5 on the roster going into the season.
Millen at his best.

Dippiscott:
I agree, but they never really liked Tatum Bell. They just had no other option until Rudi came along. The other backs with names on the market are not power backs. Sean Alexander is afraid to get hit, etc
