Colts receiver Marvin Harrison once caught 143 passes in 16 games. Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall intends to catch nearly as many, in one less week.
Marshall told CBS 4 in Denver that his goal is to catch 140 passes. He’ll have to do it while missing Week One, due to a suspension for violating the Personal Conduct Policy.
He’s banned from the team until next Tuesday, the day after they play the Raiders on Monday night.
“I’m going to watch a lot of football and prepare myself as if I was going to be out there,” Marshall said of his time off without pay.

Good for him. Its good to set a goal. Notice he didn’t boast and say he’s GOING to catch 140, he said his goal is 140, and he WANTS to catch 140. I think thats healthy and good for him.

Brandon knows his greatest achievement this season may be his fantasy draft ranking and is working it for all he can.

Hopefully he doesn’t slip on any more Mcdonald’s bags.

The thing is, guys who announce their goals publicly always fail to meet them it seems. Like McGahee in Buffalo announcing he is going to break the single season rushing record a few years back. He was mediocre that year.

A better goal would be for him to try to control himself. I am not going to hit any more TV’s or bust any car windows when my girlfriend gets mad. When my crazy girlfriends gets violent with me, I will be a man and walk away instead of doing what I usually have done…
This dude is an idiot. Cutler should just focus on working on his chemistry with Eddie Royal and Scheffler. He at least can hope to have them around to practice with.

He can do it. Go watch his highlights on Youtube to see what the dude can do. This guy can be one of the all-time greats.
I hope he can just keep focused.

I don’t think the Broncos will have enough possessions over the course of the season for Marshall to catch 140 passes and for Selvin Young to rush for 2,000 yards.

Did you notice the headline “Brandon Marshall AIMS High”. It didn’t say “Brandon Marshall Predicts 140 Receptions”.

Meh. Whenever players talk crap like this, they never just fail….they fail spectacularly. Remember when Warren Sapp was blathering about how he’d break Mark Gastineau’s record, and then went out and recorded like 4 sacks? That was beautiful.

Many of them CAN do it, not many of them do though.
Most of these guys just don’t have the mental capacity needed to deal with their new found fortune and fame.

Yes I did read it. But apparently everyone else in here didn’t. They all seem to think he predicted he was going to break the record. If you don’t go out and try to break the record every season, why bother?

Maybe he’ll fail, maybe he won’t. But as a first-time WR#1, he caught 100+ from a quarterback in his first full year of starting (who also was weakened in the second half of the season). Bottom line: there is no defense for Brandon Marshall except Brandon Marshall. Any arguments about his ability to achieve any personal goals he sets starts and ends there.
