In the end, Jim Sorgi perservered.

After signing Quinn Gray and Jared Lorenzen to push Sorgi for the right to back Peyton Manning, the Colts decided to keep two quarterbacks, and for the fourth year in a row they were Manning and Sorgi, with the newcomers being released as part of 22 transactions to reach the 53-player limit. The decision to go with two signal-callers should help quell, along with recent activity in practice, the rumors that Manning’s recovering knee will keep him out of a fair share of action.

WR Devin Aromashodu, DT Joe Bradley, DE Jeff Charleston, S Brannon Condren, DT Dan Davis, OT Tala Esera, DT Colin Ferrell, DB Brandon Foster, WR Sam Giguere, DE Ben Ishola, WR Onrea Jones, RB Kenton Keith, OT Darren Marquez, LB Kyle Shotwell, RB Chad Simpson, TE Tyrice Thompson, OT Michael Toudouze and LB Victor Worsley were also released. G Ryan Lilja and LB Tyjuan Hagler were placed on the PUP list.

Keith, with 533 yards on 121 carries last year, is the most notable of those let go. All nine of the Colts’ draft choices, along with four undrafted rookies, made the team.
