Jesse Chatman had 180 total yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown for the Jets in their win over the Eagles.
Fourth-stringer Erik Ainge got most of the action at quarterback.
Said QB Brett Favre, “I wanted to play, but it’s not a big deal. I never really brought it up.”
The most prominent Jet on the field was first-round draft pick Vernon Gholston, who had another disappointing game.
David Barrett is learning to play safety.
WR Chansi Stuckey played cornerback for much of the night, indicating that coach Eric Mangini is considering using Stuckey as a two-way player, like Troy Brown was in New England.
Rookie CB Dwight Lowery didn’t play, an indication that Mangini has decided to make him a starter.

Didn’t EVERYONE say that “Gholston is a physical specimen, but I just don’t see his ability when I watch his game-tape”. Everyone, including Mike Mayock had been predicting this guy to be a bust.

I agree he hasn’t looked good, but it’s a little early to be pulling out the “bust” tag.

I wouldn’t throw Vernon Gholston under the bus yet people. Remember, this guy held out for majority of OTA’s and offseason activities. Then you combine the fact that he has to learn that complex 3-4 blitzing defense, it won’t happen overnight. He’s not going to burst onto the scene like Shawne Merriman did, but give him time to see what he can do.
As for the rest of the team:
Favre: we knew he wouldn’t play, but very productive and excellent preseason for the limited knowledge of the offense he knows.
Dwight Lowery: Wow, this kid looks good. He has great man coverage skills, speedy, very fluid in his motion, and for a rookie has great anticipation on throws. Potential draft gem.
David Clowney could be another steal for the Jets. Blazing speed, and looks like he’s polished his catching and route running. We actually drafted him in 2007, but because of the depth we have at WR, let him go to the practice squad and claimed on waivers by the Jets.
This Jets team looks very improved and could shock a lot of people like we did last year.
