Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports that the Miami Dolphins have traded quarterback Josh McCown to the Panthers.
Terms of the deal are not yet known.
McCown was signed by the Dolphins earlier this year, and he received a $2.5 million signing bonus. It was believed that he would not be released, even though he was rendered unnecessary by the arrival of Chad Pennington.
On Thursday night, backup quarterback Matt Moore suffered a shin injury. Though early reports were encouraging, the decision to bring in McCown can’t be viewed as a good sign.
He has 31 career starts in six NFL seasons.

So much for all that John Beck is out crap.
Never believe the Miami media…they are clueless Enquirer wanna-be’s for the most part.

Brilliant move by Miami… they were going to release him anyway, Mike I don’t know where you got the feeling that he was going to be kept. Based on his limited playing time this preseason, he was on the outs, clearly.

life is a sick joke when a talentless goof like Josh McCown can walk away with 2.5 mil for doing nothing.

WOW, people just like to give picks to the Tuna. I can’t believe Miami actually got someone to trade for McCown. I think Beck will be traded by the trade deadline !

He was going to be kept because as we all know, injuries happen, and starting QBs (even mediocre ones) have value in this league. It was a brilliant move by Parcells/Ireland. They obtain a draft pick for nothing because McCown was a UFA and free up another roster spot.

Brilliant move by Parcells, they obviously weren’t going to keep him. The trading Beck deal just didn’t make any sense, plus McCown had how many snaps in the preseason, 10 since Pennington came to town?

In related news, Parcells acquired draft picks this afternoon from the Dallas Cowboys. In exchange for the picks the Cowboys receive the rights to Dan Marino(should he decide to unretire), Snowflake the Dolphins mascot and a half eaten cuban sandwich that belonged to Mercury Morris during the 1970’s.

If a talentless goof like Obama runs for president, is o.k. for Josh McCown to walk away with 2.5 mil ! Why not, cost of doing business in the NFL, “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow”

Garyofferdahl is waaaaay off base, everyone knows that snowflake was a fictional “character” from that brilliant movie Ace Ventura Pet Detective which so happened to star Dan Marino. The mascot for the Miami Dolphins is actually “TD” the 8 foot land based soft and cuddly version of a real dolphin or delphinidae.

That’s true. Making Parcells deal even better, he traded a fictional character and got value.
Ace Ventura was amazing…If not for Marino where would Jim Carrey be? Not banging Jenny McCarthy, I can tell you that much.
