A hearing on Johnny Jolly’s felony drug possession case has been moved to September 16, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The hearing was scheduled for August 27, but because the case has not been reviewed by a grand jury, there was no reason for it.
So, basically, an indictment from a grand jury will be needed before the case against Jolly can proceed. He was arrested on July 8 and charged with at least 200 grams of codeine. He posted bond in the amount of $10,000 and has participated in training camp and the preseason.
Though Tom Silverstein of the Journal-Sentinel points out that Jolly might be subject to discipline under the Personal Conduct Policy, most if not all drug and alcohol cases are now covered by the league’s substance abuse policy.

Jolly is one of the best defensive tackles in the game that nobody has heard of, yet. If not for Jolly, GB wouldn’t have traded Cory Williams to the Browns…assuming Jolly doesn’t get an extended suspension, you’ll see.
More importantly this brings to light an entirely separate issue of drug dependency amongst NFL players. Just think how many guys that’ve never been “caught” or really dealt with pain killer addictions in the NFL.

This bust was based on cops detecting “the odor of codeine.” According to numerous uh, “experts” from http://www.drugwar.com codeine HAS no odor.
Also, the cough syrup was merely “in the car.” It’s attributed to Jolly, because he was the “driver.” But the car was parked in a parking lot. There was no driver. The whole thing is very, very thin.
The initial “suspicion” was based on four black dudes playing loud music in a car… outside a club.

No different than a DWI, if your keys are in the car, you’re on the hook. Maybe the criminal case is thin, but the guy should be suspended for being a dope. Hanging in a bar parking lot, playing loud music, with glasses of cough syrup in the car? Don’t tell me he used the I’ve got a cold excuse. Geez, why not just light up a neon sign that says “find drugs here”? In the interests of fairness, last year the Vikes Dwight Smith didn’t get suspended for having dope in his car (and smoke) while double parked outside a strip club.

I guess the lesson from college teammate Terrence Kiel was not heeded by JJolly. Not surprising from a guy who celebrated a tackle while trailing 77-0
