Several days ago, when the New England Patriots released tight end Marcus Pollard and signed in his place a tight end of whom we’d never heard, we assumed that it was over for Pollard.

We were wrong.

They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and the Falcons have decided to at least kick Pollard’s tires in advance.  The Falcons have announced that tight end George Cooper was cut, and that Pollard has been signed in his place.

The Falcons have four other tight ends on the roster:  Ben Hartsock, Jason Rader, Keith Zinger, and Martrez Milner.
