The offensive line played well in a win over the Broncos.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said of Aaron Rodgers, “He was put in a situation that’s different. He’s done a very good job of focusing through that. And at the end of the day you need to focus on playing quarterback.”
Said McCarthy of the defense, “We weren’t as sharp as we have been and we need to tackle better. That’s two weeks in a row that our run defense was not as good as it has been.”
“We didn’t get off the field,” defensive coordinator Bob Sanders added. “We have to sure up some fundamentals. We missed a few tackles, missed a few gap controls, things we can easily adjust and get to.”
DE Jason Hunter provided one of the few bright spots on defense.
Everything that Rodgers was not a week ago, he was Friday night.
“He was a leader today,” WR Donald Driver said of Rodgers. “He showed that.”
G Josh Sitton, S Nick Collins, S Atari Bigby and WR James Jones all suffered injuries.
McCarthy said Sitton’s injury was the most serious.
K Mason Crosby capitalized on the Denver altitude to hit field goals of 44 and 46 yards, but he missed from 53.
Backup TE Tory Humphrey is finally healthy and playing well.
C Scott Wells is still out with what is described as a trunk injury.

I notice Rodgers’ passing numbers weren’t posted in the piece. I suspect we’ve heard the last of the “7 for 20″ remarks from here on out? 18-22 with a TD last night and he led 4 scoring drives. The Packers will be just fine without #4.

Yes, McCarthy did a good job setting up short and conservative passes to give AR some confidence against a vanilla Denver defense who didn’t blitz much.
Actually gave me some hope for the Packers this year. Instead of 6 wins, they may get 8 if a few breaks fall their way.

If Aaron had been having a 7 for 20 night, you can bet Florio would have had it written up by half time.
I’m also waiting for some imbecillic post from 40for60, but his mother must have brought his lunch down to the basement. Maybe he should change his name to 18for22.

Let’s not forget, all those QB sneaks. Kinda missed having a QB that could do that!!! So much for the Aaron “Glassman” Rodgers theory the Vikings fans were so desperately holding onto.

i knew rodgers could do it, would be nice to see him throw multiple TDs though…. we need to get our run D together though, otherwise it could be a long night against that damn AP

Unless it was just a ruse. There were scouts from the Vikes at that game, so it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if the run D was scripted to look pathetic on purpose.
Of course that D could also need a lot of work.

The Packers have been in spin mode for the last 3 months.
They are going to suck and a lot of people are going to love every moment of it.

I love how people try to make a big deal out of these pre season games, one way or the other. Keep in mind Ray Rhodes went 4-0 in his only preseason as the head coach of the Packers and look how that turned out.
I ain’t knocking Rodgers or am I predicting that he will be an All Pro his first starting season. As long as the Packers win their opener and keep the BIQUEENS as our bitches, I can live with some ups and downs.

Question? How do you “Sure” up anything? Shouldn’t it be Shore Up?

Kind of like how we’ve been enjoying the perverbial “suckiness” by the lions and vikings and bears (oh my!) for the past umpteen years?

I wasn’t going for humor. I was going for truth.
And I hit the nail squarely on the head.
There’s no more overrated fans in the NFL or any other sport than Green Bay Packer fans.
