The Miami Dolphins have announced the trade of cornerback Travis Daniels to the Cleveland Browns.
In exchange for Daniels, Cleveland sent an undisclosed draft pick to Miami.
Daniels was a fourth-round draft pick in 2005, and he was a favorite of Nick Saban, who coached him both at LSU and with the Dolphins. He started 14 games as a rookie.
But Daniels started just six games in 2006 and five in 2007, and he was in danger of getting cut before the season. He’ll have a chance to compete for a starting spot in Cleveland.

This is a good move for the Fins if they get anything better than a 7th rounder in the deal. TD has good coverage skills on short routes, but he’s been burned more than the new Lil Wayne CD. Just another example of Bill and the trifecta stockpiling picks so they can fill the team with more “Parcellls Guys”.

I’m absolutely love’n the fact that the Tuna collects draft picks, instead of giving them all away for washed up sorry players like in years past.
- AJ Feely
- Daunte Culpepper
- Trent Green
- Marty Booker
to name a few …

If by having a chance to start really means “will most likely move into the nickel role immediately” then yes, I agree. But, without an injury to Wright or McDonald, he won’t be starting… at least not at the outset of the season.

A guy going to be cut from the 1-15 Dolphins could be a starter on the Browns? That, along with the first 17 minutes of their game with the Giants, are ominous signs for their season.

I’m thinking the Browns aren’t going to make the playoffs if they have to make moves for Dolphin leftovers.

Does any one know what all picks the dolphins have for next year?

The Dolphins will be loaded with picks next year. They will also be better than people think this year. Ricky Williams says the o-line is better than the one that paved the way for him to 1800 rushing yards. The QB situation will be much improved and the defense will be better. They won’t be in the playoffs, but they won’t be pushovers either.

Wow.
What does it say about Cleveland’s D when a guy who might get cut by the Dolphins can compete for a starting job in Cleveland?

All Pro i couldnt have put it better myself.
- the QB play will be better than last year (no matter who starts)
- the O-Line will be miles better than last year.
- Ricky and Ronnie, will be better than last years Ronnie by himself.
- The rush defense was the worst in the league, and we’ve loaded it up by switching to the 3-4, adding Jason Ferguson, Kendall Langford, Phillip Merling, and Randy Starks.
- The Special teams will be better as well as we have much better depth at just about every position.
- And there is no way we lose 6 games by 3 points or less again!
jkuhn, they’ll have:
#1
#2
#2 (Redskins)
#3
#4
#5
#6
#7

Browns let go of Mike Lehan 2 years back and he’s been a steady contributor on Miami’s defense, trade Leigh Bodden which was a dumb move, and now pick up a CB Daniels on Miami’s squad who would have been let go in th neext round of cuts. Should have kept Lehan all along, and if my info is correct the Browns tried to get Lehan instead of Daniels in this deal.

He’s there for depth, not to compete for a starting position. And it was a 7th rounder they dealt.

Not so much of a fanatic if you don’t know they’ve been playing 3-4 for years. Anyways, I agree with the rest of your rant. But how can a team not improve over a historically wretched season?
