Warren Sapp is the newest cast member of the longest-running show on cable TV.
Inside the NFL, which will debut on Showtime on Wednesday, September 10, after 31 years on HBO, has hired Sapp as an analyst. He’ll work with fellow ex-players Phil Simms and Cris Collinsworth and host James Brown. The show, produced by CBS Sports and NFL Films, will air each Wednesday through the week after the Super Bowl.
Sapp spent nine years with the Buccaneers and four with the Raiders before retiring this year. TV will apparently keep Sapp busy. In addition to working on Inside the NFL, Sapp is expected to appear on Dancing With the Stars.
Collinsworth is the only cast member returning to the show from last year, when it also featured Bob Costas, Dan Marino, Cris Carter and Peter King.

This is potentially the worst group ever put together. I think of the 1995 Miami Dolphins, the 2007 USC Trojans and 1989 Minnesota Vikings.

Since Sapp is a Natural-Born Ham, I am not surprised.
He loves the Camera, and it seems to Love Him Too.
It may be amusing,
but I will not tune in for the Hard-Hitting Analysis.
Not coming from Sapp, anyway……
PS…..
I always enjoy James Brown,
and Simms I can listen to for a while.
I respect Collingsworth, but need to take him in doses….

Sapp is a putz, but it appears there are plenty of ham-heads out there that enjoy the perspectives of lower life forms.

Well there’s an OSHA accident just waiting to happen. Adding big mouth Sapp to that group of gas bags they’re going to be passing out for lack of oxygen. The only question is who will hit the floor first.

Actually Sapp is very well spoken when calm, and even when he gets, um, ‘animated’, he remembers his vocabulary, unlike Smith.
I still don’t like him, but it’s for his dirty play, not his words.

Remember when that program used to have some talent (both Inside the NFL & Miami)?

Yay, another opinionated talking head ex-player pretending he is an objective analyst. I can’t imagine what Sapp can add to the show. Then again, I imagine it has nowhere to go but up.
I am so tired of ex-players pretending to be objective analysts while grinding their axes. I can’t believe that Jamie Dukes is still on the NFLN. He is a loudmouth who talks over everyone else with stupid reasoning. Loved it last week when he announced several times that NE would have a SB hangover. WHen asked why, he stated, “Because Brady might get hurt.” Yeah, that is the case for just about every team in the league that is competitive. Bring down the QB, and the team does worse. That isn’t a reason for saying a team will have a SB hangover. It is a reason the Pats need to protect Brady, because, like a lot of teams, if they lose him, they are in trouble. How would (or perhaps will) the Colts fare if Sorgi has to handle the QB duties all year?
Now we get Sapp, who seems to be in the same mold. He is extremely opinionated, and has a history of opening his mouth only to find his foot squarely inside of it. Maybe he will surprise everyone and do well, but I doubt it.

I always liked the show for its highlights. They use game footage and sound from NFL Films. Never really did like any of the talking heads in the show’s history, though, except for one. Jerry Glanville, believe it or not. He always seemed to make me laugh. I imagine Sapp will be about my least liked of all of them. I can always DVR it and fast forward the non-highlight parts.
