The Colts had their first practice at the new Lucas Oil Stadium this morning, and surprisingly, quarterback Peyton Manning showed up, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Even more surprisingly, the Star doesn’t report anything about the health of Manning’s knee, other than to say he “wasn’t expected to practice.” And the Star photograph is cropped at just above Manning’s knees, so it’s impossible to say whether Manning was wearing a knee brace.
Manning hasn’t practiced since surgery to repair an infected bursa sac in his left knee on July 14. The local television station WTHR reported that Manning was wearing a brace on his right knee — not the knee that was operated on — at a charitable event Monday night.
UPDATE: After we posted this, the Star added several elements to the story, including a video that showed Manning walking with his left knee wrapped and nothing on his right knee.

Manning doesn’t run around anyway. He doesn’t need his knees much.
He should operate on that forehead, make it a little more proportionate to his game face.

I think the Colts are playing the media like a fiddle.
Media: Right knee! No left knee! He can’t walk! Oh wait, he CAN walk!
Media: Can we still play the “Manning won’t be ready for the season opener” angle?
Let’s all just sit back and watch the media get “Dan Rather’d” with their overzealous agendas.
I really think the Colts are having fun with this.

Just spoke to Brett Favre and he thinks Manning is getting way too much attention on this site.

I think this injury is being overblown. Granted, I am glad to hear less about Favre and more about the rest of the league, but the guy wearing a knee brace doesn’t mean it’s catastrophic and that he can’t play.
Knee braces are often precautionary, not necessary.

Why write you say “surprisingly”? They originally said he would be back in 4 to six weeks. It has been 5 weeks. You are beating a dead horse here. You keep bringing up the Harrison injury last year - well, he really did just have a knee bruise. It would feel good for a while but then when they practiced on Friday the knee would swell up. That is why they thought it would get better sooner than later.
Your unremitting efforts to find dirt on the Colts organization is just your way of finding a justification for your dislike of them. Since you obviously have a major source who is with the Jags (and maybe one with the Patriots), it is no wonder that you are being fed disinformation. You are being a willing TOOL of very jealous and small-minded people. And I do use the word “tool” with ALL of it’s possible connotations.
The Colts have NO history of flouting the injury reporting rules of the NFL. The Jags and the Pats however, not so much.

not a big colts fan but have respect for manning unlike florio who just can’t seem to accept the fact that he is a great guy. he is always trying to find something to knock him down from his pedalstal. so far the only negative thing that he can find is he once mooned somebody in collage, wow what a low life quick give him turd points for that. I hope he doesn’t play in the opener though to give my bears a better chance.nothing would make my day,no my year than not having to have “our” colts shoved down my throat for at least one day. and I don’t care that I live in Indiana they are not my team!been a bears fan my whole life and just because they have a team that plays in indy doesn’t make them mine. so where was all the my colts talk during the 3-13 years?I have never been ashamed to wear my bears stuf when they sucked.and why would anybody pay a 7 dollar fee to tour a stadium thier tax dollars paid for?what the team that will make millions off this stadium could not afford to let the people who paid for it take a look at it for free more than the 2 days they did get in for free?

We may as well admit it. This wasn’t a bursa sac, you were to clever for that ruse, shame on the Colts and complicit media for trying to fool you. No, the reality is that Manning has undergone surgery to impregnate his skeleton with adamantium, his precious skull was done earlier on as being in one piece, was easier to do. This latest “surgery” was just a cover for the touch-up on his lower legs that didn’t take correctly the first time. Rest assured, Peyton will be ready for the season and at this point, with his minty new indestructible skeleton, invincible.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!

Re: cygnus x-1
The stuff you are complaining about (the stadium) is an NFL thing. Trying to act like the Colts are somehow different in this is silly. As for having the Colts “shoved” down your throat - grow up dude. I have been a Colts fan since 1984, but I moved out of Indiana in 1988. Since then I have lived in Mississippi (The Saints), Arizona (The Cardinals), North Carolina (The Panthers), and now in Cincinnati (The Bengals). It is completely normal to hear a lot about the team that is IN THE STATE YOU LIVE IN!
I can tell you this, you get a hell of a lot more Bears coverage in Indiana right now than I got Colts coverage in any of those other states.

The Colts have NO history of flouting the injury reporting rules of the NFL. The Jags and the Pats however, not so much. It’s a joke to think your Colts aren’t as culpable of messing with injury reports to mislead teams. Maybe they aren’t as bad as the Patriots, but if Dungy ISN’T doing it, he simply isn’t a good coach. In my opinion, Dungy is a VERY GOOD coach.
