Last week, receiver Joe Horn told Dan Patrick that he’d like to play for a Super Bowl contender, specifically mentioning the Cowboys and the Eagles.

Horn didn’t mention the Miami Dolphins as a potential destination, possibly because he didn’t want to cause Patrick to spray coffee out of his nose.

But now that Horn has gotten his release from the Falcons, he has reached out to the Dolphins.

We don’t see it happening.  Saints coach Sean Payton is a Bill Parcells protege, and Payton will surely tell the Tuna that Horn is more trouble than he’s worth.

(Horn has criticized Payton in the past.  During the 2007 season, Horn said that the team was struggling because of Payton’s ego.)

Meanwhile, we’re amazed that the Falcons included in Horn’s contract a fully-guaranteed 2007 base salary of $2.5 million.  What in the hell were they thinking?  And who else were they competing with when they signed him?

It would be easy for the Falcons to chalk this one up as part of the post-Vick transition, but the idea that an aging wideout with little or no interest would get a contract including $2.5 million guaranteed in year two makes no sense, with or without Mike Vick banging out license plates.
