We were reminded to comment about the new Madden game earlier today because Dan Patrick and producer Paul Pabst were talking about the game during Patrick’s daily radio show.
And, since few of you likely play the game as the Detroit Lions (unless you really enjoy a challenge) Pabst mentioned something that caught our interest.
The game includes Caleb Campbell on the Lions’ roster.
Campbell is the West Point grad who was famously paraded for the television cameras on the second day of the draft, pursuant to a policy that supposedly would allow Campbell to play football despite his obligation to serve in the Army. Then, days before the start of training camp, the Department of Defense yelled “psych!” and yanked Campbell out of the NFL.
EA Sports didn’t follow suit, likely because it was too late to make the change.
Maybe via the online updates there’ll be a mini-game in which Campbell tries to avoid capture after going AWOL.

It’s just a programming error. Campbell has been move to another EA game “Medal of Honor- The Madden Assault”. Hitting the shelves later this month.

“the STOP-LOSS mini game”
well, not really. stop loss is program designed to postpone the end of a contractual enlistment. seeing as how campbell was never enlisted and mr florios idea was to avoid capture upon going AWOL, your idea overall makes no sense based on its lack of plausibility and relevance.

all humor on this site must be both plausible and relevant (neither of these criteria really make sense as it relates to the original joke). I alwas get a kick out of the “who cares” comments. If I take the time to read something, then leave a comment about it, I must care A LITTLE.

“paraded for the cameras” what should he have done? hide like you liberal pussies? At first i thought the floria bashing was a tad excessive, now it is seen as warranted. Is football for you?

Campbell may not be an NFL Player after all. But his place in history
is assured:
The only non-player ever inserted into the Madden line ups.
Good for him.

F2B makes a great point. I don’t think that he should be taken out of the line up with any of the roster updates.
Also, the mini-game is a great joke florio, don’t listen to those a-holes.

If I were Campbell I would sue, impersonating an officer. Then I would sue the Lions for impersonating an NFL franchise and Millen for fraud.

Yes I definitely LOL’d at my desk at the mini-game comment. People seriously need to take things in stride. Is it really worth getting worked up?

The Lions retain Caleb Campbell’s rights I think, so appearing with the team on Madden is okay, in an “alternative reality” sort of way.
The real nasty fallout is no NFL team is ever going to draft a player from Army, Navy, etc. again because they could be throwing away a draft pick.
If Caleb Campbell’s drafting was supposed to excite young men into enlisting in the military –with the possibility of playing pro ball– it’s going to have the exact opposite effect.

I dont think the parading was of Campbells design.
Also this liberal/conservative crap is old and BUSTED.
Get that sh*t outta here. We are humans. You can’t split us and make us hate one another for NO REASON. “Liberals arrgggg!!”
Do you know how stupid you look?
What we should be fighting about are the real questions like: Who really makes policy in this country? The talking cardboard cutouts they put on tv- the ones that we the people THINK we’re voting for?
Jordan Maxwell. Bill Cooper. Dillan Avery. kay Griggs. Eustace Mullins. David Icke. Micheal Ruppert ***.
Seek the truth you blind motherf*ckers.
