Browns rookie tight end Martin Rucker, a fourth-round draft pick, suffered a torn meniscus in practice this week, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Rucker will undergo arthroscopic surgery, and will miss six weeks.
Both of the team’s top two draft picks, Rucker and linebacker Beau Bell, are now out with knee injuries.
Rucker had been getting plenty of reps, due to a rash of injuries at the position.
And since a scalpel will be taken to Rucker’s leg, the Browns rightly should be thinking about the “s” word.

No “S” word comments necessary, everyone knows the risk is there.

DO NOT GO TO THE CLEVELAND CLINIC!!!!!
Also stay away from the Browns training facility. Better yet, leave the state of Ohio.
Leave now, have the surgery in another state and only come back when you are totally rehabbed.

Umm, because hospitals are the most likely place to pick up a staph infection? Staph isn’t something the average person has running rampantly about their homes.

Damn…I remember Jerry Sherk got a staff infection years ago for a “rug burn” on his elbow….he was never the same. WTF is it about Cleveland and this scourge!

Poor Martin. He was an absolute stud at Mizzou, but he needs to bulk up a bit to be in ‘NFL shape’. He needs to go to his brother’s surgeon and get the procedure done… stay far away from the Cleveland cutting tables!

Much like Jerry Seinfeld’s girlfriend with the talking stomach, that Cleveland staph joke is really played.

Not only are hospitals playgrounds for staph infections, they also happen to have some of the most “treatment resistant” varieties there. It’s not like hospitals aren’t cleaned constantly… the staph has just evolved to resist the cleaners they use.
If you ever get a chance to talk to a hospital administrator, ask them what their top concerns are. If they are honest with you, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is in that list.

Karma for all the clowns over on thebrownsboard gloating over other teams’ injuries (especially the Steelers). Payback is a biatch.

Fair enough…the point I was driving at was, aside from the rash of incidents with the Browns a couple years ago (which made you wonder if it was rampant within a team facility), do hospitals in the Cleveland area really have a higher risk of staph infection than anywhere else in country? So there was a little bit of an outbreak before, but there’s little reason for the Browns to continue to worry about staph infections to players that go under the knife any more than any other team.

Out of curiosity, how do the Browns compare to the rest of the league when it comes to players getting staph infections?
