Said GM Ted Thompson of QB Aaron Rodgers in Monday night’s loss to the Bengals, “I thought he threw the ball very well. Looked calm. I think his balls were pretty much on time. Excellent accuracy.”

Added coach Mike McCarthy, “I saw Aaron just like he is every day. I thought he went out there, he played with excellent energy, which I always recall him playing with. I think he’s done a really good job being consistent.”

Matt Flynn looked better than Brian Brohm in the backup QB battle.

“I thought both young quarterbacks, there’s productivity there,” McCarthy said. “Was it clean? No, it wasn’t clean. But there’s a number of factors going on, and we’ll get that cleaned up.”

Rodgers missed a chance at a big play when he barely overthrew WR James Jones on a post-corner route.

Rodgers seems to have the confidence of his teammates.

Brett Favre wasn’t watching the Packers game.

Rodgers’ numbers would have been better if Donald Driver and Chris Francies hadn’t dropped well-thrown balls.

RB Brandon Jackson ran well, but he screwed up on two blitz pickups.

WR Ruvell Martin was the only injured Packer; McCarthy says Martin’s injury is minor.

Defensive coordinator Bob Sanders says his first-string defense had “a good start.”

Most TV viewers in Wisconsin who want to watch Brett Favre’s Jets preseason debut are out of luck because they don’t have NFL Network.
