As we continue to gather more information about the June 2008 restructuring of Reggie Bush’s contract, we’ve learned that the move was primarily motivated by the team’s desire to clear cap space for contracts that have since been given to receiver Marques Colston and defensive end Will Smith.
Bush didn’t get much if anything by way of new money out of the deal. He did, however, get some future money in hand now.
And so this move had nothing to do with locking up Bush. The team was going to exercise the buy-back in Bush’s deal at some point over the next two years. They did it now to create cap room in order to keep some of their other players.

The Raiders have the best running back in the NFL with the last name of Bush. Reggie is a disappointment to say the least.

Michael Bush has potential but thats it. Since when has potential meant more than production (even if said production isn’t that great)? Get your head out of the clouds DarthPirate.

Sledge, please get a grip - Michael Bush will turn out to be the next great RB of the decade….the R8ers will use him sparingly this year to showcase his talent and then complete a trade in the offseason that will make the hershell walker deal look like nothing…

That’s funny, the “R8ers” have proven over and over again their Front Office is completely inept. Maybe they should pay more attention to Mickey Loomis before going out and signing someone like Javon Walker. Come to think of it, their entire off-season was a joke. They did accomplish a couple things like setting the inflation rate with all their signees and paving the road for Asomugha to hit the free agency market next year.
I can’t wait to see the Hershell Walker type trade next year. What do you think they will get? Donte Culpepper and Curtis Martin?

The Saints are waiting for Reggie Bush to have more touchdowns (4) than lost fumbles (5) before formally extending his contract.
Just another cold-hearted business move by the NFL.

Sledge, I didn’t say he would be the best running back in the NFL, just that he would be better than Reggie. Hell MBush, DMac, and Fargas are better pure running backs than Reggie. They all can run between the tackles effectively.

And the Raiders aren’t the ones who traded for the pathetic bigmouth tightend named Jeremy Shockey.

And if Reggie bush played for the Jets, the following…..
“The team was going to exercise the buy-back in Bush’s deal at some point over the next two years. They did it now to create cap room in order to keep some of their other players.”
would have read
“The team did this to lighten the cap number over the next few years so that it appeared to the public that the team was not paying a ridiculous base salary to the #2 overall pick who has turned out to be bust. The Jets sure don’t know how to draft.”

DarthPirate says: “The Raiders have the best running back in the NFL with the last name of Bush. Reggie is a disappointment to say the least.”
The irony of this statement is astounding. In one sentence, you’re hyping one Bush who has not played a single game. In the next, you’re claiming another Bush did not live up to his pre-playing hype.
While Reggie’s stats may not be overly impressive, he is not a disappointment to his team. He set an NFL record for receptions for a RB in his rookie season. He is a weapon to score from anywhere, so defenses have to account for him when he’s on the field. Even if he isn’t getting the ball, he helps open holes for others. He is a big reason why the Saints went from 3-13 to the NFC Championship game in one year.

Raider fans are f***ing morons. Maybe when you have a season with more wins than you can count on one hand, people will actually take you seriously.

People should cut Bush some slack. His first year was pretty damn good. Last year the guy was hurt far longer than the team let on. He had the same injury that effectively ended the career of another Saint RB - Dalton Hilliard.
I know that attention spans in the US have shrunk to 3 minutes or less, but let’s let the guy play a while longer before deciding that he is either a bust or a Hall candidate.
