RB Maurice Morris made a strong statement in the running back competition.
Said Kasey Dunn, Seattle’s running backs coach, of Morris, “It’s his moment in the sun. He’s kind of been in the shadows for a while. This is his opportunity, and he needs to make the most of it.”
RB T.J. Duckett lost the ball twice, but one fumble was negated by a penalty and the other was overturned on replay.
The offense had three scoring drives in the third quarter, with an assist from some Vikings fumbles.
Said Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, “We have to tighten up some coverage things. While we created some turnovers, I thought we missed a couple tackles.”
Added Holmgren, “You like to win the first game, they feel pretty good, and we did that. But they can’t feel real great because they made a number of errors that we can coach to. But that’s kind of what you want in a first game.”
Steve Vallos played well at center, considering it’s a position he has almost no experience playing.
Said QB Matt Hasselbeck of Vallos, “We believe in him.”
Said WR Jordan Kent of his touchdown catch, “It was just another chance to show that you’re versatile and working on all facets of your game.”
Of the Seahawks’ 80-man roster, 15 players did not play.
DT Howard Green had a big game.

It sure helped when the SeaChickens played Seneca Wallace who is not only a backup, but a backup that has started several game in the NFL before all the way into the 4th quarter..
Not to mention that Julius Jones and Maurice Morris saw much more time then any of the Vikings top 2 RBs..
Tarvaris Jackson sure picked your defense apart though.. Things are looking up for the kid.. He barely hit 118 yards with 1 TD in any game last season let alone in the 1st quarter.. He would have had much more yardage if certain players didn’t drop balls, and Berrian would have stayed in bounds, he also would have had another TD pass if Berrian stayed in..
If I was a SeaChicken fan, I wouldn’t take much from that game seeing as though Pat Williams and Madieu Williams didn’t even play, Jared Allen and Ray Edwards saw only a few minutes of playing time, and AD never carried the ball..
You see, Childress had a plan going into that game.. It was called seeing what the young guys could do.. No need keeping TJ, Berrian, AD, Taylor, Allen, K-Will, or any of those guys on the field for a extended period of time in the first preseason game.. Apparently Seattle looked at this game as a must win.. They still had Wallace in when Booty came in for the Vikings and that was their 4th QB of the night. I thought for a while there that Seattle only had 2 QBs on their roster..

Nice play on the Hawks name, Never heard that before…What are you twelve? And as far as who won or lost isn’t really irrelevant you’re right, but the fact that your much heralded defence couldn’t stop the run or the pass was pretty glaring. You Viking fans keep saying it don’t mean nothing, and that somehow your team is going to be Bad ass, but it was only a preseason game, so don’t start doubling your meds until it counts. And who knows, if all the planets line up, and the sky turns green the Hawks might get to beat them again in the playoffs…That’s if the Vikings can somehow manage to make the playoffs, we’ll keep the light on for ya’.

No, I am not 12.. You just don’t see backup QBs playing into the 4th quarter anymore.. Usually preseason games 1-2 are for showcasing the younger players to see who will, and will not make the final roster..
Our much heralded defense? Pat Williams and Madieu Williams didn’t even play.. Jared Allen played all of about 5 minutes. Same for Kevin Williams and Ray Edwards.. That was most of the starting defense either not playing at all, or out soon after the game started.. Any 1st string offense should be able to move the ball on a 2nd and 3rd string defense don’t you think?
Don’t speak for all Vikings fan when you say that we keep saying our team will be bad ass.. Most Viking fans I converse with are the opposite actually.. We know that we have a potential question mark a QB, and most of us say that we are worried about that.. You will hear many Viking fans say that we are headed to the SB this year, but what fans of any team doesn’t say that?
I also would say that the Vikings have a better shot at making the playoffs this year then Seattle does.. JMHO.. Seattle is nothing special.. Hasselbeck is a poor mans Brett Favre, and Deion Branch is their main weapon on offense IF he could just stay healthy, and that is a big IF.. We Viking fans know all about Nate Burleson, good one season, mediocre the next.. So I would say the planets would have to line up just right in order for Seattle to even get a chance of playing the Vikings in the playoffs..

Really? That poor man’s Brett Favre was the starting QB in last years Probowl…And the Hawks have been in the Playoffs the last 5 years don’t remember having played the Vikings in those 5 years, Oh that’s right the last time they even sniffed the Playoffs they got beat by the Cardinals! My brothers a Vikings fan, I can keep this up all day…
