RB Maurice Morris made a strong statement in the running back competition.

Said Kasey Dunn, Seattle’s running backs coach, of Morris, “It’s his moment in the sun. He’s kind of been in the shadows for a while. This is his opportunity, and he needs to make the most of it.”

RB T.J. Duckett lost the ball twice, but one fumble was negated by a penalty and the other was overturned on replay.

The offense had three scoring drives in the third quarter, with an assist from some Vikings fumbles.

Said Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, “We have to tighten up some coverage things. While we created some turnovers, I thought we missed a couple tackles.”

Added Holmgren, “You like to win the first game, they feel pretty good, and we did that. But they can’t feel real great because they made a number of errors that we can coach to. But that’s kind of what you want in a first game.”

Steve Vallos played well at center, considering it’s a position he has almost no experience playing.

Said QB Matt Hasselbeck of Vallos, “We believe in him.”

Said WR Jordan Kent of his touchdown catch, “It was just another chance to show that you’re versatile and working on all facets of your game.”

Of the Seahawks’ 80-man roster, 15 players did not play.

DT Howard Green had a big game.
