Says WR Jordy Nelson of Aaron Rodgers going 7-for-20 in the team’s live scrimmage, “Everyone’s getting on Aaron. And we’re sitting here thinking we didn’t help him out one bit.”
Says offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, “The whole offense has struggled; that hasn’t been the offensive team we’re familiar with.”
Rookie G Josh Sitton could earn a starting job.
DE Jason Hunter says he likes taking snaps at tackle.
Will Blackmon is likely to win the punt and kickoff return competition.
Former Packers RB Paul Hornung says players of his era are being ignored.
RB Brandon Jackson missed practice with a sprained ankle.
The team spent time working on last-second plays like Hail Marys and multiple laterals.
The rookie tight ends had a bad day Wednesday.
The Packers have no practice today and will be back on the field on Friday.

Hey Packers fans get ready for an unspectacular season. The Favre trade will haunt Packer management until they all get fired. You thought Favre turned the ball over a lot??? Get ready for Rodgers’ mistakes. It’s going to be ugly. I hate to say it, but the Vikings will come to Lambeau and win week one. That’s sad but true. The Packers are no longer an elite team.

Tell Paul Hornung to stfu. Theres LOTS of people that make a lot less than football players did even in the late 80’s. They still manage to make it through life OK. If these guys didn’t financially plan for the future its their own damned fault.

@ kjack: Or the Packers could win the division. You don’t know. Would you have called last year’s Cleveland Browns a 10-6 team on August 7, 2008? No. So how about you STFU and cheer the kid on?

I just assumed Aaron Rogers was 7-for-20 against the second team defense, then I watched the scrimmage on NFL Network. Al Harris and Charles Woodson didn’t play, so the second team CBs started, and Rogers was throwing against the 3rd team CBs.
Not only doesn’t Rogers throw downfield very well, his short passes hang in the air a little bit, allowing the reserve DBs to close in on guys like Driver and Jennings and either knock the ball away or at least make what should be an easy catch tough for the WRs.
The Jets had a QB like that in Chad Pennington. Guess what their solution to that problem was?

With all due respect for Paul Hornung, there are MANY 72 year olds that need high and knee surgery and cannot afford it and do not have the insurance coverage needed.

I’m just happy that there was a packer blurb here that didn’t involve wild speculation about favre.
I’m not trying to say Rodgers will be great, everyone thought that Tom Brady would be inferior to Drew Bledsow. My point is that you never know until they take the field. Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, and Ben Rothlesberger all had good first seasons. There are hundreds who havent, but let the guy play.
And the scrimmage was a scrimmage, nothing more. he had a bad practice

I guess having a one liner about yesterday’s practice with Rodgers going 18 for 22 with 2 of the incmpletions being drops by a running back wouldn’t fit your agenda; right Florio.
I can see it now. Every mistep by Aaron Rodgers will be blown up into a big deal so as to reflect badly on the Packers. Favre will be given a hundred excuses for his screwups - new team, new system, new team mates, salty air, blah, blah, blah.
I’m sure you’ll milk this as long as you can for whatever it’s worth.

capo gino is more interested in helping out his agent tom condon in keeping other retirees from getting anything.
why is an agent on the retirees compensation board? to “represent” the young players so the old guys dont get squat? or watch ginoi’s back? or both?
and most of the people complaining about gino’s lack of action to help retirees arent black, so capo gino wants to break their necks.
gino is a f@#$in thug. he needs to be fired.

Old School,
You are right on. Favrio has little to gain by promoting Rodgers as doing anything good. Keep it up Favrio!

for jyernberg from the Green Bay Press Gazette
“Rodgers watch
In the two practices combined, Rodgers completed 31 of 39 passes. He had an interception in the morning practice. He was 18-of-22 in evening session, and two of the incompletions were Wynn’s drops.”
I certainly expect there will be some stumbles by Aaron.Everybody has to learn at some point, and it’s unfair to condemn him without giving him a chance.Right now Aaron is written off as a zero experience player. Later the Favre fans will say he should be mistake free because he’s been in the league for three years. Some will always keep moving the goalposrs.
There’s a good article on ESPN.com by Jeff Chadhida.
