To little surprise, the guy who was running the show in New York when Chad Pennington was drafted is now interested in bringing Pennington to his current place of employment.
Per the Palm Beach Post, the Dolphins and V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells have reached out to Pennington’s agent, Tom Condon. Parcells was the Jets’ G.M. in 2000, when Pennington was one of four first-round draft picks.
Of course, because Pennington hasn’t been released, any such communications would constitute tampering, unless the Jets have given Pennington permission to talk to other teams.
Even if Pennington hasn’t gotten such permission, Jets G.M. Mike Tannenbaum likely wouldn’t blow the whistle on Parcells, who has been Tannenbaum’s mentor and confidant. Such an overt act of ingratitude would be as outlandish as, say, coach Eric Mangini tattling on his own mentor, Bill Belichick.
Oh, wait. Never mind.

Way to turn a Dolphins/Jets story into a Patriots Hater-fest. I’ll be proactive and just say it now; “Stay Classy Patriots***”.

The Fins had the worst record in the league last year so, they should be first up to claim Chad when he’s cut. The only way they won’t get him is if someone else is willing to trade for CP.

I dont see Miami being interested in Chad, despite the Tuna connection. It just doesnt make sense where their team is.

That’s right, because Pennington is the only player in the NFL represented by Condon. Who’s Terry Glenn’s agent?
This could even be an attempt by the Jets to drum up trade interest for Chad. “If you want him, make us an offer, otherwise we’re releasing him at 4pm and he’s already talking to Miami…
This is highly speculative at best.

Clintdogg-just as the Patriots will have to live with the cheater label and lame asterisks, the Jets will have to live with the rat label. They are the ones who ratted and if you remember at all, got little support from other head coaches or Front offices for doing so. In fact, on more than one occasion it was reported that Mangini’s actions had caused him to become somewhat of a pariah in the league for breaking an unwritten code. There also more than a few who were praying that Gooddell would sweep it under the rug so that a full scale investigation wouldn’t be launched revealing that they too had practiced the same thing. Why were the tapes destroyed-because Belichick isn’t stupid and had evidence against other teams as well. Matt Walsh openly admitted this. Mangini jeopardized alot of coaches, including himself by ratting. I wonder if he had to do it all over again if he would-I doubt it.
I suppose you were the one who befriended and offered unwavering support to the little tattle tale in grade school who turned everyone in to make him/herself look better, right? Get over it. live with the comments like we have to live with stupid things like this;
“Stay Classy Patriots***”.

By all accounts, Chad Pennington’s arm is stronger than ever. He’s not nursing any injuries. And his training camp performance even encouraged the Jets.
So no wonder Parcells would be interested.
But one teeny-tiny nick and Pennington will come crushing down. I believe this is why the Jets jumped on the chance of getting Favre. After 2008–throw in 2009 if Favre is up to it–Clemens will be ready.

Mangini should have let Belichick continue to cheat, it would have done his career wonders.

Hi Kevin, I wasn’t going to post but I see you wanted my comments. It really is not alot of interest for me because I think Chad will end up in Miami, KC maybe Minnesota. There are several teams that could use him. I don’t see him with the Pats as some of our other fans think because he will get more than the vet minimum signing bonus which is all the Pats would pay. I have got to run because we are getting ready to head down to Gillette. Thanks for your interest. By the way how is your 50 million dollar corner Mesante looking in practice?? Not to worry,he got paid!

espnsux - you are typical Pats fan. I like how John Lennon put it. Living is easy with eyes close, misunderstanding all you see. Perhaps John should have said “intentionally misunderstanding all you see”.
The point is that Walsh said that on one occasion (ONE OCCASION) he saw another cameraman in position to do what he was doing. ONCE. He had no evidence that the guy was cheating too; but you know - cheaters tend to be suspicious chumps. And the statement that Belichicken had evidence against other coaches is entirely unfounded. There is no evidence to support that. In fact, the league stated that the opposite is the case.
Deal with it. Your Pats are no good cheaters. Everyone who is not a Pats fan hates them.

Simpleton Chowds,
Kazcur = Rat, he was participating in the pill popping
Mangini = smart, he wasn’t taping other team’s signals and the ones doing it are in his own division.
See the difference? The IQ level of chowds is comical.

espnsux-you really convinced me there. I never realized how much I trivialized the sacrifice Mangini made, and the bad publicity he’s gotten from it. Want to know why he won’t get another job after NY?
Because he isn’t a very good coach. How’s that 4-12 season taste?
Two wins against the Dolphins and two OT wins… now that’s something to brag about.

I think the Vikings would be the best landing spot for Chad, but he would be the hands down starter for the Fins.
I’m a big Chad guy and I think it will be good for him to have a change of scenery. He gave the Jets everything he had and was a true warrior, but it wasn’t fair what the fans and the media did to him the past few years. Cheering last year when he went down in Week 1 was a disgrace and the sentiment was not shared by true fans like myself. Also, that injury turned out to be ligament damage in his ankle and not the sprain that was reported. He played through it all year and never complained or told the media what the real injury was. Imagine trying to throw with ligament damage in your plant foot. We all know Chad doesn’t have a rocket arm and I can only imagine what could have been if he were able to keep his shoulder healthy through his career.
I root for Chad to do well wherever he goes. He is the classiest football player in the NFL, PERIOD, but at the end of the day I root for the jersey and the Jets are definitely improved at the QB position with Favre.

Wow! Florio is blaming the Jets for the Patriots cheating. Huh? In essence, let’s blame the victim because the victim once was a perpetrator. Instead of calling cheating what it is: WRONG regardless of the situation. This type of flawed morality is why millions of babies are murdered and why millions are left for dead. Florio has selective morality, oh I mean selfish morality, when it benefits him its okay when it doesn’t blame, curse, and cry about it.
