NO, so they get trade value Favre comes. How much can you get of for a guy that can probably throw farther with his left arm? A bag of skittles, perhaps? Or maybe a See’s candy certificate for 10% off?

As a Pats fan, I’ve been watching Pennington for several years and heard all the knocks on him about lack of arm strength and fragility. But, y’know, I think he’s a pretty decent and clever QB who’s suffered the misfortune of never having all the pieces in place around him during any one season. It always seems to be something - lack of sufficient team talent in one or more areas (often due to injuries to key players), lack of good coaching/gameplan, etc.
Clemens may ultimately be a stronger player, but if Pennington is healthy, there really shouldn’t be any question about who’s starting and who the Jets are building their offense around (much less any of this crap about Favre). The mere fact that this isn’t settled must be detracting from the development of the rest of the team.
While they still have their weak areas, the Jets’ overall talent mix seems improved over last season and even 2006. They’re not world-beaters quite yet, but based on just talent, they should do fairly well. However, it appears, from the outside,at least, that the coordination of that talent is still lacking and that could hold them back. Again.
The first four games before the BYE, a genuinely tough schedule, could be disheartening if some of the rough edges don’t get smoothed in the pre-season.

For the Jets, the worst news here is that Gholston is struggling in camp. The Jets were counting on him to deliver the goods as a pass rusher.
If you remember, the biggest knocks against him were that he took plays off and was inconsistent against top-drawer offensive lines. He still might prove deserving of his status as an early first-round draft pick, but the Jets must be wondering whether they made the right move.
When the draft went down, I had a feeling they grabbed him partly because they were afraid the Pats might select him with the next pick.
