Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall says that in the wake of a turbulent off-season that culminated with a three-game suspension, he knows he needs to conduct himself like a professional, both on the field and off.

“I’m just going to do everything I’m supposed to do, whether it’s off the field or on the field, and get past this,” Marshall said today in his first public comments since his suspension was announced.

Marshall, whose three-game suspension can be reduced to two games if he meets certain league-imposed conditions, wouldn’t say whether he thinks the NFL has treated him fairly.

You know what, it doesn’t matter,” he said. “It’s in the past and all I can do is worry about now. I can’t worry about yesterday. … It’s just being the best player I can be in the community and on the field. That’s all it is. It’s not hard. You know, it’s not rocket science. … And like I said, I have a job to do and I plan on getting it done.”
