In April, Lions safety Kalvin Pearson was charged with felony counts of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and domestic battery by strangulation. On Monday those charges were dropped.

But while Pearson apparently convinced the woman who made the accusation to back off her claims that he choked her and pulled her hair (UPDATE: The woman said she did not want the charges dropped), that doesn’t mean he’s in the clear as far as the NFL is concerned.

Pearson also faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing or opposing an officer without violence, and that charge remains in place. And depending on the status of that charge, Pearson could still face discipline for a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.

We will continue to monitor it,” said NFL spokesman Greg Aiello.

Pearson will be arraigned on the obstructing or opposing an officer charge in Florida on September 8, and the NFL is expected to wait until at least then before determining whether Pearson will face league discipline.
