Quarterback Brett Favre is no longer at Lambeau Field.
According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Favre made his exit less than 30 minutes before practice, which is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. EDT.
For now, the only thing that’s known is that Favre won’t be at practice on Tuesday.
Coach Mike McCarthy still hasn’t addressed the media about the situation.
Meanwhile, Wendi Nix of ESPN reports that Favre says another meeting will be held between Favre, his family, and G.M. Ted Thompson in an effort to resolve the situation. Nix also reports that Favre’s agent and family urged him to practice with the team on Tuesday, but that Favre decided against it.

It’s no biggie. Brett probably just forgot his lucky sweatbands. He’ll be back in a sec.

He should put on the red jersey and play his ass off and let the chips fall where they may. They are not going to to release him or trade him to MN so he needs to get out and compete or go home.

Isn’t that checkmate? Favre is officially back on the roster and he is not being allowed to practice with the team. Past precedent would dictate that Favre just needs to file a grievance to be allowed into the building, and pass a physical to be allowed to practice.

They are so incompetent, they were supposed to have a press conference last night, but nothing materialized. Now they were supposed to again today, nothing again. It’s expected though, they’ve been lying to Favre and the media all along, now we all know firsthand what it’s like dealing with Packers management, they should all be hung!

The Packers front office (Ted Thompson) is a joke. The coach is a “yes man”. I feel terible for the team. They are seeing first hand how their management treats it’s players. This, I’m sure, is great for morale. Way to stick up for your players McCarthy. I’m sure the team is really going to try hard for you this year.

If Favre can’t accept not being head caoch and general manager, he simply needs to buy out his contract. I’m sure the Packers would offer a 10 or 15% discount on the 39mil left.
Hearing Michael Strahan beating his gums in support of Brett “here Michael break the sack record” Favre, maybe Farve thought the interception in the championship game was going to be lateraled to a Packer receiver as payback.
Any other player cheating in that way would have been suspended.

I have watched Brett Favre in every game of his career, at least with the Packers. Before he came to Green Bay he was a “never was” in Atlanta. He weighed 280 lbs, drank and partied way too much. He came to Green Bay, Holmgren slapped the sense into him, and sure enough, he received his shot in place of an injured Don Majikowski. The rest is history right?
Wrong.
In Favre’s mind, he was always amazing, and his ego began to grow and grow. Now, in present day Green Bay Favre’s head has gotten enormous. He no longer needs to compete for his job (even though he officially retired 6 months ago) and gets upset when the general manager doesn’t do as he says. I mean wouldn’t you do what he says? He will play for maybe 2 more years.
Come on. Get the guy to the Super Bowl.
Again.
Last time, the only time he won the Super Bowl he couldn’t wait to get his helmet off so the world could see who he truly was, a showboat. Problem was there was 98% of the game yet to be played.
As a side note, he didn’t even win the Super Bowl MVP. A little return specialist out of Michigan by the name of Desmond Howard rightfully took that award home.
He went back the next year with a loaded team nonetheless, and he couldn’t out-gun a 55 year-old John Elway.
What makes Favre think that he could’ve out-gunned a red-hot Tom Brady last year? The best thing going for Green Bay in ‘07 was our defense, and our 5 highly skilled WRs. Without those enormous assets, ol’ Brett never would have made it close to the playoffs. Everyone acted like he threw the team on his shoulders early in the year. No. The team jumped on the shoulders of our deep receiving corps, and the defense allowed us to manage games and take what opposing defenses gave us.
No longer was Favre allowed to just wing it out there blindly in his gunslinger fashion.
The reason for many of our playoff losses throughout the years? A lot of them ended in early-down situations with Favre trying to do it all. And guess what? He fell flat on his face.
Many forget all to quickly how many errant throws Favre made off his back foot into double coverage that the likes of Sharpe, Brooks, Driver, Beebe, Freeman, or others may have shortened their careers by going to get. If you don’t think that Favre routinely has put WRs in the line of fire for no good reason, then you have simply not watched ‘ol number 4 closely enough. I liked Brett while he was here, I just haven’t made him out to be more than he is; a thick-skulled, hard-nosed gunslinger who, even in rural Mississippi, stands out due to his lack of being anything even reminiscent of cerebral.
In closing,
if Favre really had told Ted Thompson what to do personnel-wise, I really can’t blame the GM for holding a grudge. I mean Favre’s policy year in and year out if he doesn’t get his way, is to whine to the media. You know the type, rather than admit they were out of line, they try to breed descent within the ranks in an attempt to strike up a mutiny of sorts.
Well I speak for only myself when I say;
Brett, you have overstayed your welcome. I will always treasure the type of personality and energy you brought to this proud franchise, but we were here before you were ever born, and we will be here longer after you’re gone. Now go out with some grace.

He’s got a set of cheese balls on him the size of Wisconsin.
“I’m retiring” - team moves on.
“I might come back” - team prepares to have him back
“Nevermind” - team moves on permanently.
“I wanna come back” - team doesn’t want him
“I don’t want to be a distraction because I care too much about this franchise.” - team is distracted
“It’s in the best interest of the team if I move on” - team agrees.
“Is it cool if I go to one of your division rivals so I can help try to keep you out of the playoffs? I’ll be sure to tell them all the ins and outs of your offensive system because I care so much about this franchise.” - team flips him off.

GB management should end this with the “Braveheart” speech:
“I have my own demands: turn around and march back to Mississippi, stopping at every Wisconsin farm to apologize for ten years of whining, key interceptions and vascillation. Do it, and you will play somewhere this year. Do it not, and you will sit on the bench with the rest of the men.”
“One more thing: Bus Cook must cross this field, present himself at the 50 yard line… and kiss his own arse!”

“STAGE LAMBEAU” is exactly right.
The Pack had to make the pretense that “Brett will be welcomed back” and that “We did everything we could”. This little Dance In The Dark overnight now clears the way for the real wheeling and dealing.
Start the bidding at a first this year and a second next year. Nope, too steep. OK, OK… Two second rounders!! SOLD for two second rounders!! We’ll see Brett in the division games: Pack vs. Vikes!!!!
“We did everything we could do. But in the final analysis, we’re moving on…” And everybody’s happy…..
