Safety Stuart Schweigert, who signed with the Redskins after four years in Oakland, has been cut by the ‘Skins.
He appeared in 63 of 64 games in Oakland, starting 16 in 2006.
He was replaced on the roster by safety Patrick Ghee.
Also on Monday, rookie receiver Malcolm Kelly underwent arthroscopic knee surgery, and will miss two weeks. He’s the sixth Redskins player to go under the knife since camp opened.

A lot of this had to do with the exceptional play of Chris Horton out of UCLA — he was everywhere against the Colts.
Rumor has it that Schweigert wasn’t looking too good in camp. Blowing a few coverages in your first big game isn’t a way to hang around.
If Horton beats out Doughty, he could make a potent combination with LaRon Landry!
Hail.

good move by the skins, otherwise anyone getting past the linebackers would have had a free run to the endzone. This guy was a turnstile

Schweigert has learned his valuable lesson, which is, being on a Raider roster for too many years does not make you an NFL caliber player. It makes you Sam Williams. Or Derrick Gibson. Or Tyler Brayton. Or Mario Henderson. The list goes on, but the message stays the same. Every team picks their share of players who don’t work out, but Oakland keeps their broken dreams around a lot longer than most.

Personally, I think it has more to do with the fact that Schweigert sucked.

I like Stuart Schweigert but he’s not an NFL safety–but he’d make a fine Cover-2 cornerback. I hope some headcoach recognizes hios talent and turn him into one.

Lil’ puss Stu, will be catching frozen turkeys at a Costco, very soon. Lil’ puss Stu, couldn’t tackle a sack of cement. Go back and snivel to your hometown fish rap, on how Zorn doesn’t know what he is doing, by sending your lil’ puss azz home.
