Packers quarterback Brett Favre will be leaving Mississippi in ninety minutes with his wife and children and heading to Green Bay, according to Ed Werder of ESPN.
Werder echoes the report from colleague Wendi Nix that the team believes Favre has been bluffing, and that Favre believes the team has been dishonest (i.e., lying) to Favre and to the fans.
We’ll be tracking this one all day. Finally, it appears to be coming to a full boil.

This is finally going to be very interesting. I’m tired of all the talk. I can’t wait to see what happens when Farve goes to camp. I just can’t imageing the better QB being a second string player. I mean its suppose to be, who ever is the better player gets the start. Very interesting.

Seriously, Brett, you are the biggest egomaniac I have ever seen in my entire life. You change your mind back and forth over and over and then have the nerve to blame Packers management for moving on? Other than 4 1/2 seasons of play, you have been a consistent turnover machine that loses games for your team. No player ever got more hype and didn’t deliver upon it than Bret Favre. My vote for the most overrated player in NFL history.

Does anyone feel that the team should be bargaining with Deanna and Bus Cook? It seems that all we hear is from them, not Brett.
Does annone dispute that the reason that Farve is so beloved is because he’s a man who we wish were like? A man who goes to work every day, a man who can “beat” addiction, a man who can still produce even when emotionally you shouldn’t be able to.
Here is the reason why most people are turned off by Brett in this case. Most men also want to live by the motto “my word is my bond” and thus far Brett has given his “word” to retire twice and changed it both times.
Does anyone really know how many clients “Bus” Cook really has? From what I know he only has Moss, and the newly retired McNair and Favre. Could this be the reason why PFT has been posting information that “Bus” has been quietly shopping Favre for 5 months now.
I maybe jaded because I’ve been divorced. But is there any chance that life for Deanna is easier when Brett is playing. I was a workaholic because my first wife spent every nickel I had. Some woman’s perfect paradise is a man who works all the time so she can be free and do whatever she wants. Is Deanna just trying for a couple more years of “freedom.” I mean she has been living this lifestyle for 15 years now. How hard do you think it’s going to be for her to change?

Does all this harken back to the OJ/Bronco chase? Real-life “drama”, constant media coverage, wondering how it will all turn out, and just hoping for some kind of resolution–soon.

This has gone beyond irritating. The fact that this performance continued on the HOF weekend and took attention away from men who earned their right to go into Canton is disgusting. I was never a huge fan of Favre, but I DID respect him. That’s gone. I sincerely hope that this crap costs him a first ballot entry into the the HOF. Clearly, with his numbers, he gets in. But he crossed a line this weekend by upstaging the HOF ceremonies. If there is ANY justice, that should cost him his first ballot election. For all the Favre fans that disagree, just think about how you and Brett would feel if another football player pulled this crap when they are inducting Favre into the HOF. These guys deserve this weekend to be theirs and theirs alone. Brett should know better. Classless and selfish.

kjack, he’s won just as many Super Bowls as Jeff Hostetler, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Doug Williams. Turnovers are the biggest differentiators in a football game and he has made more turnovers than any other player ever! He couln’t touch Joe Montana, John Elway, Johnny Unitas, and many more on his best day. He gets Jordan like hype and he has NEVER been as good at his sport as Michael was at his.

billzfan… if turnovers are the biggest differentiator and he has so many, then why only one losing season? He’s a turnover machine but he’s also good enough to overcome them most of the time.
As far as the Michael Jordan comment… Montana is a better comparison to Jordan. Few compare to MJ in any sport. Favre reminds me more of Ripken… a gamer who is out there everyday and has big stats only because of his longevity. I’m a niner fan and he’s punked us more times than I care to admit, but I like(d) his gambling style. Made watching him fun.

flik, my comment about being overrated is relative to the amount of media and hype surrounding this guy. He’s been on the front page of every major web publication because of his retirement waffling for the last 3 seasons. Aren’t you all sick of the hype surrounding this guy? I mean, do we have to hear about an overhyped, over the hill, 38 year old QB who’s best days were 12 years ago?
