In Arizona, the team’s centers are dropping like hamper biscuits.

Starter Al Johnson had arthroscopic surgery on Friday.  Though the team is hopeful that he’ll be back for the start of the regular season, they need bodies in order to get through training camp and the preseason.

Reserve center-guard Scott Peters wasn’t as lucky.  He has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a serious knee injury on Thursday.

As a result, the Cardinals have claimed Pat Ross on waivers from the Panthers.  The current No. 1 center is Lyle Sendlein, an undrafted free agent in 2007.  Hercules Satele, an undrafted free agent in 2008, is the backup.
