The Green Bay Press-Gazette is reporting that the New York Jets are in serious talks with the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre’s agent about a trade that would send Favre to the Big Apple.
In fact, there’s actually a headline right now on the Press-Gazette web site reading, “All But Over: Favre to Go to Jets (It’s Over: Favre traded to Jets)” although there’s no story under that headline, and it has the appearance of something that was mistakenly put up by an overzealous web producer. (UPDATE: That headline has now been removed.)
However, there’s no mistaking that the Press-Gazette is reporting that the Jets “have shown a growing interest” in Favre, and they now appear to be the favorites to land him.
Favre was reportedly planning to fly from Mississippi to Green Bay this evening, but he has apparently now canceled those plans.

I wonder if TT, and MM realize how much like buffonns they look like in all of this ???
Imagine what all other NFL players and their agents are thinking right now. They’re thinking “if the Packers will dump all over a legendary quarterback and the most popular player in team history - who is coming off a great personal season, and a great season team-wise, what will they do with me”. I think the long-term ramifications of this is that the Packers will never get another high profile free agent to ever come to Green Bay, unless they dramatically overpay for them.

The packers organization is inept. Sad to say. They had to have the commish come in and give them one more day to get farve traded. Just do it. Get a third rounder out of it and let it be. Geez. HOw hard is it to run an organization.

This is merely a smokescreen - Favre doesn’t want to play for the Jets. They have NO chance of post season play, let alone, the Superbowl. Give me a break.

Why in the blue he11 would he want to go to the Jets? I think “Bus” wants to see what the Pack will take for him and then let the Vikes one up the offer. TT really does have sh@t for brains

Favre does NOT have a no-trade clause. He will simply refuse to report to camp if it’s a team that he doesn’t want to play for. And his AGENT, Bus Cook, is in on these meetings with the Jets, so he must have some interest to report.

As a Jet Brett gets his wish in a limited form - he will get two games a year to throw to Randy… wonder if he realizes those will actually be incompletions or hail mary INTs.

TT and the Jets can talk ’till they’re blue in the face and it won’t matter a hill of beans if Favre doesn’t want to play for the Jets. I would think Favre wants to play for a team that is capable of contending for a title immediately, and the Jets aren’t exactly at the top of that list. Looks like just more wasted time and motion from TT, with an assist from RG.

Mangini the rat will comit suicede after this season, they need a young QB to build that team, not grandpap Favre. It will be a big FIASCO.
First the Dolphins and loser Duante Culpepper,
Second the New England cheaters,
Third Buffalo to Canada and now the Jets and Favre, AFC EAST is doing good?
Favre to the jets will be suicidal for the jets.

another thought - goodell has jet connections and is using them… to silence the loudmouth diva! since he doesnt want to play there - if traded - he must play or quit…
i mean… really QUIT. not the bs quitting he has previously engaged in.
not bloody likely, but not impossible.
the other possibility is that the jets will offer the pack and favre so much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ they both roll over and let tannenbaum rub their tummies.

Idiots. His agent is talking to the Jets. And here I always thought the agent spoke for the player. Can’t understand why an agent would waste time on a deal if the player wouldn’t go there.

The Jets are pretty much the same team that went to the playoffs in 06 with a new world class offensive, a lot of talent on offense and a defene where the personal now mathches the scheme. They would have made the playoffs without Farve …with him they might really be dangerous.

If this happens, then TE Bubba Franks can continue his tradition of dropping Favre’s passes as he has the past several years.
Wondering how many of those it will take before Jets fans boo him out of Giants stadium ??? My guess is three.

“Favre has a no-trade clause”
No,he doesn’t.
The Packers asked Favre for a list of his prefered teams but they could trade him to arena league if they wanted to. The only recourse Favre has is to not report to his new team.
