Contrary to a report from the Green Bay Press-Gazette suggesting that quartberack Brett Favre could soon be traded by the Packers to the Jets, Dan Leberfeld of Scout.com reports that a deal isn’t close.
“That is not the case,” a source told Leberfeld in response to the Press-Gazette declaration that the Packers and Jets are in “serious talks.”
Our guess is that the Packers are floating the notion that they’re in serious talks with the Jets either to leverage any team to which the Jets might actually be talking, or to spark bidding on an auction for Favre’s services.

I can’t tell who has been doing a worse job, Ted Thompson or the Green Bay Press-Gazette

I too hope he goes to the Jets. That would help the Patriots corners confidence playing him twice and also pad their stats for the probowl.

Why would Brett want to go to the Jets? C’mon, now. Seriously. The Jets? Really?
Talk about an imploding team. There’s a reason why Tampa and N.Y. were the choices. I’m just surprised Miami was left off that list because they’re in the same shape as the other two mentioned.

Why would Favre want to end his career with the Jets? The Jets don’t seem to have what it takes to make a serious run at a championship this season, with or without Favre at quarterback.

I am shocked that my fellow Jets fans want Brett Favre. Apparently we are as desperate as Florio suggests. I won’t deny Favre his due respect for being one of the all-time greats. However, I have resented #4 since the end of the 2001 season. Don’t forget the disgraceful role Brett played in the breaking of Mark Gastineau’s single season sack record in the last game of the season against the Giants. Michael Strahan was a sack away from setting the new mark, but had gone the entire game without acquiring it. That is until late in the game when Favre conspired to allow Strahan to do just that. It was a sad and pathetic display of disrespect to Gastineau, the record and the game of football. Michael Strahan in all of his gap-toothed glory was unfairly awarded the record by none other than the man Jets fans are praising.
I can’t believe how ridiculous all of this is. Let him wither away in some other city. We don’t want him here in New York. We obviously have serious QB questions, but I am confident that the answer to those questions isn’t rotten cheese from Wisconsin.
Forget Favre.
