Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib, the team’s first-round pick in the 2008 draft, made an impact on Sunday afternoon, hauling in two interceptions.
One of the picks was thrown by Brian Griese, the other by Chris Simms.
Said Talib, per the Pewter Report: “It felt good to get my hands on a couple of balls.” [Editor’s note: That’s what she said.]
Veteran Ronde’ Barber likes what he sees in Talib. “Aqib is definitely a different guy than me. Physically, I think he’s ready to play. When I came in I don’t know if I was necessarily ready to play. His expectations are that he’ll play. I think our expectation is that he’ll be able to play. I think that was a little bit different for me, but I pass as much knowledge on as I can to Aqib. I tell him about my struggles at the beginning. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but you know, it’s my experience and that’s how I share it with him. Aqib will be fine. He’s a talented player. He’ll show up for us.”

Good to hear. Though I think he’ll have his hands full trying to get playing time behind Ronde Barber, Phillip Buchanon, and Eugene Wilson.

Two INTs in one practice? Just wait until they trade for Favre…

(Editors Note, thats what she said) If your mancrush Farve had been in camp, he’d have thrown 5-6 picks. And who is the “she” you reference in your report Florio? Just keep beating up on Gruden, as you always do. How’s your local radio friend and ally doing after his multiple arrest for DUI doing? The pet yorkie has about as much credibilty as you have lately. Have you made sure Favre is tucked into bed tonight?

The REAL Competition is Phillip Buchanon. Eugene is Struggling a little bit and Barber is SET at the Other Cornerback position. The loser between Buchanon and Talib will most likely be the Nickleback. Even if Eugene loses out to Buchanon and Talib he Still brings value because he has experience as a Safety.

Ehhh this is really no big news. This guy was a first round pick and he picks up two picks. Quentin Demps, a fourth round pick of the Eagles, has made even more interceptions than that. The point I guess I am trying to make is that this is training camp. If this guy can pick off two passes during a regular season game then I’ll be impressed.

Hopefully this is just the beginning for Talib. I really think he was a good pick for the Bucs this year. He gives them a more permenant solution to the CB position than they have with the likes of Buchannon and Wilson. It’s obviously worth remembering that “we’re talking ’bout practice” and not an actual game, but this is not a bad place to start for Talib.

bucco bruce,
“She” is figurative. “That’s what she said,” is the catch phrase of Steve Carrell in NBC’s “The Office.” Every time someone makes a comment that can be in any way be sexual, Michael Scott (played by Carrell) replies with a “that’s what she said.”
Florio makes comments about watching “The Office” once in a while, which is the only reason I know this to be the case.
Hope this lesson in pop-culture helps you sleep better tonight, and as always, stay classy

Bucco Bruce are you slow? The “she” isn’t anybody. It’s a saying. When someone says something like “it felt good to get my hands on a couple of balls” or “That thing is big” someone will respond with “That’s what she said”.
If you still don’t get it well…turn up your hearing aid and continue watching Matlock tapes while you eat dinner at 4PM because your time is passing.

“This was a great pick for the buccaneers… ”
Yep. Might as well go ahead and get his HOF bust ready. Now, if he can just stay away from the weed that caused him to drop in the draft. More times that not, these things have caused players to get suspended when they place their trust in one of their homies who know what it takes to beat a drug test.

This is good news for our secondary. We have a lot of depth at CB and I would imagine that the LCB spot becomes a rotation between Talib, Wilson, and Buchanon depending on match up. Where as Buchanon is more of a coverage corner and Talib is more of a zone player. Wilson has better tackling abilities which should get him some time on the field during running situations. Hopefully Talib doesn’t melt down and become a Ricky Williams clone.

Color me shocked, a bucs fan thinks one of their players is
“the best CB in the league”
He must not know much about the defense that his team runs
or he would know that they never have the best CBs in
the league because they do not need great CBs.
It is the system that makes them look good.
