Small-school and small-statured running back Danny Woodhead created a stir on the second day of the draft.  Though not selected in any of the seven rounds, he was signed by the Jets as a free agent.

Woodhead’s career with the Jets is over, at least for now.  The team announced that Woodhead was waived on Saturday, with a designation of injured.  Absent an injury settlement, he’ll be eligible to file a grievance that would enable him to potentially recover the full rookie minimum salary for 2008.

Woodhead set NCAA single-season and career rushing records at Chadron State in Chadron, Nebraska.  He suffered a knee injury at practice on Friday, and left the field via cart.
