On Saturday, Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel strained a hamstring at training camp. Coach Andy Reid said that Samuel probably will have an MRI on the injured muscle on Sunday.
“He felt better once he got inside,” Reid said of Samuel. “He’ll probably have a MRI tomorrow.”
The MRI likely will shed light on the extent of Samuel’s absence.
Whatever the extent of the absence, the extra reps for former No. 1 corner Lito Sheppard might make him feel less “disappreciated.”

Hey Mr. Mike,
Of course “disapppreciated” is a word. I know exactly how that feels. I think we all do… LOL

I still can’t believe they paid that much money for a guy who dropped an easy interception that would have won the Super Bowl.

listen to all you eagles hater bandwagon pats fans. I bet none of you even saw this or know what your talking about. I was front and center for all of practice today and he didnt even hurt himself that much. He “limped”(more like gingerly galloped)to the trainers tent then into the locker room. He has no need to push it on the first day of camp, of any player, he has the least to lose. He is the starter at lcb…bar none. Its between Lito and Sheldon to kill themselves over the #2 job. If it was lito pulling the hammy, then i could understand a little more, but asante is and was the definition of healthy during his playing time. At least its not like the suck azz redskins losing all their players in the first week. Injuries happen. With no need to earn his starting spot(and dont give me the “everyone earns their spot b.s.” he earned his spot when he signed on the dotted line!)he can afford to rest it until hes fully healed and step in at the end of camp or the start of pre season and be fine. I laugh at everyone making a big deal about this, its freakin july 26, we’re over a month from the start of the season. There;s nothing to worry about on this front.

oh brotha, why the heck would we be at the eagles TC?
Mark my words, Asante, like every other “stud” that has left the Pats will fall to the shadows of anonymity ala Dion Branch, Damien Woody, Daniel Graham, David Givens etc etc etc. Hope you enjoy paying for his retirement.

He benifited from a great system and the best coaches in the league. The mask is off now and he will be just like all the other average players out there. He did good for himself though… Kaching! Kaching!

You are right madden, I doubt he is hurt much. I am a Pats fan, and I have been crabbing about Asante for two years now. What this guy wants is money. It is what he is all about. He has his ring, and now he has his guaranteed money. He doesn’t want to be working out and “practicing.” He doesn’t see why he should practice. After all, he thinks he has already showed the world why he is worth his money. That is why he had two minor hamstring injuries in two legs since the SB. He will show up and play. He will play hard enough so that he won’t be released, but he won’t be amazing.
He has his ring and he has his money. He has no motivation to go out and play at a high level or work at it any more. Enjoy him. Not shedding any tears here in NE. He has lost the hunger now that he is well fed.

Branch, Law, Givens, Asante… it really doesn’t pay to leave the Patriots. All have been busts on other teams due to injury or being exposed. Asante will be no different when he has a lack luster year. You see, it’s the system that made them who they are. It’s like a machine.

Farve2012, the Slayer of Nonsense must strike out against you.
He didn’t drop an “easy” interception in the Super Bowl. I have the tape buddy. It hit the top third portion of his fingertips. And he isn’t a receiver. The only way he makes that play is if he tips it with his fingertip to stop it, then catches it on the way down.
I hate the Eagles as much as anyone and hope Asante crashes and burns, but you can’t call that an easy interception, its nonsense, and needs to be slain. Thankfully, I’m here.

Um, thanks to San Fran, New England came out with a better pick than they would of had. So, they still had a first rounder. There’s no way they would have paid two first rounders anyway. The later first round pick would have been traded. As always, no worries.

pats fan here who doesnt hate the eagles (i actually root for them to do well in the NFC). asante is not worth the money. he is not a shutdown corner. far from it. he’ll get his interceptions, sure, but he gives up far too many plays to be worth that mammoth contract. my lasting image of him with the pats is him getting beaten badly for a TD by ernest wilford in the playoffs. the fact that the pats barely made an effort to keep him should show you something. and i agree with stanjam, i can see him easily becoming complacent now that he has established himself and gotten paid. sheldon brown and lito sheppard are both better man to man cover corners than asante.
