With the Green Bay Packers poised to report to training camp, quarterback Brett Favre has not yet submitted a request to be reinstated from the reserve/retired list.
Favre can’t report to the Packers until he requests reinstatement. Moreover, he can’t be traded until he is reinstated.
As of now, the Buccaneers seem to be the only viable trade option. Unless the Packers decide to trade him to the Vikings.

You had to report that there was nothing to report? Obsessed much?

Thanks for the update Florio. I update the rumormill every hour or so to see about Brett. Regardless of what people have been saying, I don’t think I’m the only one who actually DOES care…

They could trade his rights right now. Whether he applied to be reinstated or not.

Any reports on his bowel movements?
The fans have a right to know about color, weight, and count! No detail is too much!

Where is the “No News on McCardell” post? Couldn’t this space have been better served with a post about a superstar player moving to a new team (fifteen years ago)?

I have followed this story closely, and I am hoping for the best for Favre. No disrespect to the Packers of course. They have taken some abuse, and there is fault to go around, without a doubt.
I wonder if there is a resolution that lets both sides remain whole…

Favre will NOT report to camp. He won’t get to sit out drills whenever he wants to this year. He will also likely be expected to uh, do some extra drills.

Wow. No news on Favre. I can see why that would be important to post.

Unless Brett stays retired, this thing is going to explode soon. Thompson wants more than anyone is willing to offer, and that is just killing senor tightness. Just wait till TT has to release him if they find no trade partners. That might just send Teddy over the edge.

Trade him to the Vikings?
If I were Chilly, I’d make him bring his own locker, seeing he just inherited one.
Seriously, I’d give you two sticks of gum for him, just so he can back up Tarvaris.

The Packers will not hold on to Favre and pay him millions to be a backup. Too much turmoil will result in such a venture. Don’t you agree that if Favre does get reinstated, he will just refuse to be traded and eventually get released anyway? I am not sure if people are watching news on Favre to see the info or to celebrate the end of this drama. Either way, it is worthy to report, but come on, “No news.”

I just pray that a first round pick is enough to scare off the Bucs. I truly believe that his best is behind him. Garcia has too much knowledge of the Bucs playbook to start over AGAIN with a new QB. Not to mention Chucky doesn’t like to share the spotlight!!!

The Pack can simply trade his rights to Miami for a 7th round pick. If Favre reports to Miami and is their starting QB this year the pick is changed to a 2nd or 3rd rounder. If he doesn’t report and decides to stay retired then Miami continues to own his rights for a 7th round pick. Greenbay can make part of the deal that if he hasn’t reported to Miami by draft day of next season that the 7th round pick will be returned to Miami and the rights to Favre will be returned to GB.
IF GB really wants to stick it to Favre they can. I really do think they are trying to do what is best for Favre and at the same time do whats best for the team by not letting him simply walk away for nothing and play for their rival.
It’s tough for GB….it’s tough for Favre….and by the way…I agree with gb_spottedcow…I refresh this page often just to see if there is any news….even if you are not a GB/TB/NYJ/MN fan you are probably a Fantasy Football player and where Favre ends up is sort of important to which WR or QB will be selected and at what point in a draft….so, even though I might get sick of hearing about Favre….and even make a rude comment about you posting about him all the time….I actually do check here fairly often checking the headlines to see if there is any new news…and an update telling me there is no news allows me to not even log onto to any of the other sports sites as this place might not have it first but it almost always will have it right after the first place posts it and thus it is almost always before the majority of sites. Keep up the Favre news updates even though I am sick of them.

I suppose Favre won’t apply for reinstatement until he knows a trade definitely is in the works. With the Bucs and Packers still not close to closing a deal, Favre is in no hurry to file his papers.

How does Favre have the ability to refuse a trade? The Packers own the contract, and if another team is willing to pay him the money as written in his contract, theres not much Brett can do but show up and play.
