In his first training camp session with the media, Bucs coach Jon Gruden didn’t want to talk about Packers quarterback Brett Favre.
“You can talk to Brett, yourself. If we have permission, I”m sure you do, too,” Gruden said. “I don’t have any reports on Brett, okay. There’ll be some more opportunities to write stories on this situation. It’s a great story to cover. I wish I had time to cover all the things that are going on. His situation is going to handle itself.”
Gruden also addressed the potential impact of the Favre speculation on current starter Jeff Garcia, who has been excused from the first few days of camp. “We’re creating a real drama here,” Gruden said. “I don’t know that it’s that tear-jerking and emotional that we need to address it any more than we have. What we talk about is confidential. He’s very confident in his own abilities. His game tape in his last 20 starts prove that he’s not afraid of anything, he understands pro football and he’s eager to get in here with his teammates and compete.”

What’s so pissy about saying he can’t talk about it. This Lord Favre shit is filling all the media and now has taken over.
It’s B.S. Favre ain’t coming. Garcia is the QB of the BUCS. Get the hell over it already.

What exactly is pissy about Jon’s comments? Other than the fact Florio hates Gruden. Anything for yet another story about Brett Favre. Trade, sign, retire, create a new reality show, but Brett please do it by Monday because I am really sick of all this crap.

Hey Mr. Mike,
I am not going to get on you because I have over-done it myself in my posts. But there is a lot of interest in the story. I am just another knuclke-head blogger on the web, but I have been amazed at my own fascination with everything that has gone on.
A story like that generates a lot of energy (and sometimes misunderstandings too) on both sides of the argument…
Chucky says it will “take care of itself”. I hope it does.

I suppose that everyone expects Chucky to blurt out “hell yes” we’re biting at his heels. Give me a break. Any comment will only be twisted into what he “isn’t” saying or into what he “should” be saying. Why do we feel that we must know BEFORE a trade happens. We wait freeking 4 years for the next president….can’t we wait a few days to see if Lord Farve is just jerking the Pack around? For heaven’s sake he hasn’t even filed for reinstatement.

I think the Bucs would like to obtain Favre from the Packers. They’d obviously like to do it for less than the current asking price of a first-round draft pick. Hence the West Florida Kabuki of Jon Gruden.

I really don’t blame him
Some reporters ask stupid and repeated questions….
Like they care about the bucs, all they are interested in is making stories and controversies so they can write about.
