A fan held up a sign reading “Devin Hester, You Are Still Ridiculou$$” at Friday’s practice.
Offensive coordinator Ron Turner said Hester won’t have any problems catching up with the rest of the offense despite missing two days.
Said FB Jason McKie of Hester’s arrival in camp, ”He actually woke me up at 1 in the morning. He was like, ‘I’m here!’ I’m like, ‘Man, so what? Go to bed.’ But no, everybody was happy he was back.”
Hester will likely want at least as much money as WR/KR Roscoe Parrish got from the Bills.
To make room on the roster for Hester, the Bears waived tight end Marcus Stone, an undrafted rookie free agent.
Secondary coach Steve Wilks explains proper positioning: “The one thing we try to emphasize is that once we get even with the receiver, we’ve got to try to continue to squeeze him to the sideline to where [the receiver’s] outside shoulder becomes our inside shoulder and we become the receiver.”
QB Kyle Orton had a bad day.
Said coach Lovie Smith of OT Chris Williams’ back injury, “It’s something that’s minor and muscular but he’s still not ready to go yet.”
Said tight ends coach Rob Boras of rookie Kellen Davis, ”I don’t think you would say we have a guy on the roster whose specialty is blocking, and that’s what we’re trying to get in Kellen.”
Said RB Matt Forte of his style, “I wouldn’t call it an upright running style because when I’m running and I see somebody’s going to hit me, I’m not going to stand straight up.”

What, no “Rex Grossman is our QB”? Lovie must be losing his touch.

Orton had a bad day? Can’t it just be called a bad career?
How about a few more stories focusing on Devin Hester?
