As guard Shawn Andrews continues to be absent from Eagles camp for reasons seemingly unknown to anyone (possibly even to Andrews himself), a reader has pointed out that Andrews has been removed from the team’s online roster.

The explanation likely will be that, because Andrews is on the reserve/did not report list, he’s not part of the active roster.  Still, someone from the team opted to go in and take him off the roster, which might be further evidence of the souring of the front office on the 2004 first-round pick.

“I don’t have any update for you,” coach Andy Reid said Friday.  ”Again, I mentioned that he was not excused, and that’s as far as I’m going with it.”

There are various theories regarding Andrews’ absence.  One report indicates that Andrews doesn’t like Reid’s contact-heavy training camp.  (Hopefully, Andrews likes paying more than $15,000 per day to avoid it.)  Agent Rich Moran said that the absence is for other reasons, but still won’t say what those reasons are.

Meanwhile, Reid denied the WIP radio report that the Eagles had considered trading Andrews.  “I don’t know where people get all this stuff,” Reid said.

One hypothesis we’ve heard is that the Eagles toyed with the idea of unloading Andrews onto another team before said team figures out that, to use technical terms, Andrews possibly has a screw loose.

In addition to the daily fines, Andrews also faces the partial forfeiture of signing bonus money.  And if Andrews wonders whether the team will push the issue, he might want to confer with former Eagles receiver Terrell Owens.
