The Tennessee Titans and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth have reached agreement on a one-year deal that will allow him to become an unrestricted free agent in 2009 if he meets certain incentives in the coming year.

The Titans and Haynesworth had been talking about such an arrangement for several weeks.

It allows the Titans to get the most out of Haynesworth for a second straight year, given that he took his game to a new level (finally) in his push for a new contract.  (And he also didn’t shred anyone’s face with his cleat.)

The Titans hold their first practice at 3:30 p.m. EDT, but Haynesworth isn’t expected to participate until he passes a conditioning test and the contract is finalized.

The agreement between Haynesworth and the Titans leaves Ravens linebacker/defensive end Terrell Suggs as the only unsigned franchise player.
