The Texans and the agent for first-round draft pick Duane Brown had a full night of negotiations, and it resulted in a contract being agreed upon this morning, just before today’s start of training camp.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Brown agreed to a five-year, $11.5 million contract, and he should be able to sign in time to make the morning practice.
Brown, who began his career at Virginia Tech as a tight end, was a three-year starter at offensive tackle, spending two years on the right side and one year on the left. He is expected to open training camp as the Texans’ starter at left tackle.
The Texans have only have had one holdout in franchise history, defensive tackle Travis Johnson, who missed one day of training camp in 2005. Brown narrowly avoided becoming the second.
