Various readers tell us that Anthony Gargano of WIP radio in Philly reported on Friday that the Eagles discussed internally the possibility of trading guard Shawn Andrews, who is an unexcused absence from training camp.
Though the team still isn’t calling the situation a holdout, we’re still struggling to understand why he’s not there.
Gargano also reported that Andrews will be fined for his absence. The CBA permits daily fines in excess of $15,000.
The concern apparently is that Andrews has at times been emotional, and the team is apparently getting frustrated.
Andrews was a first-round pick in 2004. He is signed through 2015.

Dude’s not going anywhere, I don’t care how much of a “tearjerker” it may be. Andy isn’t about to trade the best guard in the league. I don’t know what his problem is, but he needs to get his ass to camp, especially after all that BS last year.

We do need him, but man, what is the guys problem? He acts like a puzzy sometimes. All times, actually. Max J.GIlles is a suitable replacment, and i dont even care about a wr. I want NO DISTRACTIONS this camp, get another pick for the dude and rule the draft next year.

“The Philthy Eagles have a long history of not taking care of their own and this is just another case of it.”
Hey Tex, seems your knowledge of the Andrews situation is about the same as your knowledge of your anatomy.
The Eagles already took care of Andrews giving him a contract extention during his rookie contract.

“Can you give me a couple examples of the ‘long history’ the Eagles have of not taking care of their own?”
Duce, Trotter, Corey Simon, Al Harris, Wellbourn, Vincent, Hugh Douglas, now Westbrook and Sheppard.

Vox Veritas: The Eagles just extended Westbrook a few years ago, so take him off the list. It remains to be seen how the Sheppard sitation plays out. Al Harris wasn’t a contract situation, he was the nickel corner and wanted to start, just like Rod Hood. It wasn’t going to happen here. Duce, Simon, Vincent & Douglass all left the Eagles and proved they couldn’t play anymore, so the Eagles were right to let them walk. I’ll give you Trotter but his problem was being unhappy with the franchise tag. The Eagles didn’t want to let him walk.
I have no problem ripping the Eagles but you have to be fair. Your comment was just ill-informed.

i would recommend those who feel this to be legitimate to heed by noting that the source is not within the mainstream sports syndicate. if he were the inside source within the eagles that WIP would cherish, then it would remain to be seen why they would keep the perrenial PR specialist and hand puppet, Howard eskin, would still have his job. just understand that it remains to be seen if believing jibberish without foundation is solid. the source’s reliability always comes into question — more in this case than most.
